The CROSS & SPADE COMMUNITY GARDEN (formally MADCOW Community Garden) in Brazier Street Eaglehawk, is a great space where people can connect, learn and grow chemical free produce. The Garden creates a safe environment where people, regardless of their age, race, religion, or physical and intellectual ability, can enhance their lives through the building of intentional relationships and grow into h

ealthy and contributing members of the community. The Community Garden facilitates a space where people from the local community can belong, and grow healthy chemical free food in a sustainable way along the way. A Fresh Start for Our Community Garden.

We are re-naming and re-branding the Community Garden.

The MADCOW Community Garden was built by a great team of hardworking locals — full of vision, creativity, and practical know-how. For many years we have met together and gardened, grown vegetables, encouraged each other, shared a cuppa, and our life stories.

The next stage of the community garden looks exciting, as we continue to grow vegetables for the community, expand the garden areas, and explore new ways of urban gardening.

The new name for the community garden is
“The Cross & Spade Community Garden, Eaglehawk”.

Why are we doing this? We are re-naming and re-branding the community garden to more closely align ourselves with our Eaglehawk community, and are making sure everyone knows, we are the Eaglehawk Baptist Church Community. We are still part of the Bendigo Baptist church and still are driven by the vision “We want to be a community of everyday people, empowered by faith, making a positive difference in our town, our state, our country, and beyond — all in the name of Jesus”.
We realise this vision in a practical way in the Community Garden by growing fresh wholesome vegetables that are shared widely with people in our area; no matter what life journey they are travelling at the time.

We are looking forward to the coming season for our community garden, the new challengers ahead, exploring creative ways to garden in the urban environment, and sharing life’s journey, shoulder to shoulder as we gather to dig into life at Eaglehawk.
