Northshore / Hamilton Reach Community Update
Hi everyone,
We wanted to share the latest updates following a recent meeting with Economic Development Queensland (EDQ).
🚧 Temporary Access Road & Traffic Changes
The temporary access road is expected to open by late August. This will involve a part road closure of Macarthur Ave South and part of Theodore Street.
Speed limit: 40km/h
Access: Local traffic only, through to Portside
The bus stop on Theodore Street will also be relocated
We’ll keep you updated as this progresses.
🏗️ Development Updates
Rockpool is expected to be operational by mid-2026
Silverstone:
Stage 1 completion in Q1 2027
Stage 2 completion mid-2027
🎟️ Bluey’s World
Bluey's World is continuing to operate. Tickets are released a few months at a time, and there are no current plans for closure.
🏢 Curtin Ave Land Use
Some EDQ-owned lots on Curtin Ave are being leased, mostly for storage use, with minimal expected traffic impact.
📈 What to Expect as Northshore Grows
As development continues, the area will evolve significantly:
Population growth – which should support improved public transport over time
More local amenities – including cafes, a small grocery offering, boutique retail, and a wellness centre as part of upcoming developments
Parking pressure – increased demand for street parking is expected
Council will increase patrols for illegal/dangerous parking
Timed parking is being considered in some areas
If you currently store vehicles on the street long-term, you may want to explore alternative options
Increased activity and noise – this will gradually become more noticeable as new developments open
Over time, the density of the area is expected to become similar to Newstead / Teneriffe.
🚦 Traffic & Congestion
EDQ are aware of traffic light timing issues when exiting Theodore Street onto Kingsford Smith Drive during peak times. This is being monitored in ongoing discussions with Council.
If you experience delays, please report them to Brisbane City Council:
