Last Monday, Middle Dural Rural Fire Brigade held its Annual General Meeting.

A special mention goes to Jo Cameron, Life Member, for her outstanding service and dedication to the brigade over many years, including her long-standing role as President. Jo’s commitment, leadership and contribution have made a lasting impact on our brigade and community.

We would also like to thank all members who have taken on positions within the brigade. Your time, effort and ongoing commitment help keep the brigade running and ensure we continue to serve our local community.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved.

Yesterday was a big day for our Middle Dural crew at the Bannerman Road hazard reduction.

It was a hard day on the fireground and a huge effort from an amazing crew: Eric, Jess, Andrew, Darby, Paul, Morrie, Stuart, Gail and Vicki, along with Lee and Chris who aren’t pictured.

A special congratulations to Gail, who worked on her first hazard reduction. Well done, Gail.

Thank you to everyone involved for giving your time and energy to help reduce fuel loads and keep our community safer.

BANNERMAN ROAD HAZARD REDUCTION
Just letting the residents in the Annangrove, Kenthurst, Kellyville and Glenhaven areas know that there is a planned hazard reduction burn taking place on Sunday 26th and Monday 27th April.
Smoke will be present across Sunday and Monday in the area. Crews have been preparing this burn for some time now and will be taking advantage of the favourable conditions over the weekend.
There will be Contraflow traffic for a period on Bannerman Road on Sunday so please factor this in if you are going somewhere, and please slowdown in the burning area.
Key actions include:
Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes
Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns
Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
Remove washing from clotheslines
Ensure pets have a protected area
Vehicles must slow down, keep windows up, turn headlights on
Sightseers must keep away from burns for their own safety
If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities if smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice
For health information relating to smoke from bush fires and hazard reduction burning, visit the NSW Health website or Asthma Australia.

Middle Dural Fire Brigade - Incident Update

Yesterday afternoon our crew responded to a car fire in Middle Dural. A big shout‑out to Senior Deputy Captain Paul , who arrived first and took immediate action on what turned into quite a challenging job. Paul got straight to work and contained the fire on his own until backup arrived — an outstanding solo effort and great demonstration of skill and calm under pressure. It also marked his first car fire and BA job with our brigade!

This call was also a special milestone for Kylie, one of our newest recruits, who attended her very first incident with us — well done, Kylie!

Huge thanks to our neighbours from Galston and Kenthurst brigades for their support, and to Muogamarra Rural Fire Brigade, who had just finished a full day at the Quarry Road Hazard Reduction before being diverted to assist. Amazing commitment all round. Muogamarra Rural Fire Brigade Kenthurst Rural Fire Service Galston Rural Fire Brigade

As always, we’re proud to be part of such a strong and supportive RFS community. Teamwork really does make all the difference!

It’s been a busy few days for Middle Dural and the Hills District!

On Friday night, Middle Dural put a crew of 10 on the Paulls Road hazard reduction, with both our trucks also heading out to assist at South Maroota. It was fantastic to see so many of our crew available for such an important burn.

A big congratulations to Stuart, Emelia, and Lee for attending their very first hazard reduction! 👏🔥

What better way than to have our brigade mascot on the front, the beautiful Powerful Owl.

Middle Dural RFB is pleased to announce the acquisition of Glenorie RFB as a wholly owned subsidiary which will now be known as Midnorie RFB.

Middle Dural’s Supreme Commander, Morrie Maait said: “We’re delighted to welcome the hardworking Midnorians and look forward to improving their existing inferiority complex to Middle Dural.”

Morrie also noted:
“There are immediate operational synergies that will enhance the performance capabilities of Midnorie, including:

° Abandoning double rolls and moving to the superior use of single rolls for all hoses

° Appropriate effort and significant improvement in truck decorations for the Santa run”

“Middle Dural will also enhance its operational status by adopting Midnorie’s practice of copious over-application of tyre shine ahead of any response call”

Both Middle Dural and Midnorie look forward to serving the community in our enhanced capacity in the future.
