An experience worthy of the word challenge. 🏕️

That's a pretty special thing to hear, and it's something our team at Adventure Works strives for with every single program we run.

Scottie and Mary and the rest of our facilitators don't just understand the outdoors. They understand young people. They know the pressures, the self-doubt, and the incredible potential that sits just beneath the surface, and they know exactly how to bring it out.

We appreciate this beautiful reflection. We are so proud to be a key part of the students' experiential learning journey and to continuously work hand in hand with school staff to make sure every student reaches their goals. 🙌

This story sits at the heart of why AdventureWorks WA exists.

Before founding AdventureWorks, Scottie worked with high-level leadership groups on multi-day expeditions in the Kimberley. And time after time, he witnessed something powerful: people in their 50s and 60s having the realisation that they had spent decades living a life shaped more by expectation than by genuine passion or purpose.

They had followed the path they thought they were supposed to follow.
The career they were told they’d be good at.
The version of success that had been handed to them.

And many only stopped to truly reflect much later in life.

Some changed everything.

That experience became a catalyst for the work we do today.

Because what if young people were given the opportunity to ask those deeper questions earlier?

Who am I?
What matters to me?
What are my strengths?
What kind of life do I want to build?

At AdventureWorks WA, we believe these conversations matter and that young people deserve spaces where they can reflect, challenge themselves, and begin discovering who they want to become.

Not just what they want to do.
But who they want to be.

JOIN OUR TRIBE!

What if your work could genuinely change the trajectory of a young person’s life?

At AdventureWorks WA, we’re looking for passionate facilitators to join our tribe and help guide young people through one of life’s most important transitions — the journey into adulthood.

This isn’t just outdoor education.
It’s meaningful conversations around the campfire.
It’s supporting young people through challenge, growth, reflection, and connection.
It’s creating spaces where students can discover resilience, confidence, and a deeper understanding of who they want to become.

From hiking expeditions and kayaking journeys to group circles and moments of breakthrough, our facilitators play a powerful role in shaping experiences that stay with young people long after camp ends.

We’re looking for people who:
🌿 Believe in the power of nature and challenge
🌿 Lead with empathy, emotional intelligence, and authenticity
🌿 Want to be part of a values-driven community
🌿 Are passionate about supporting the next generation

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Never fails. Two words that mean to us. 🏕️

We are so proud to have built a program that teachers keep coming back to, and that students keep talking about long after they've headed home.

The transition to high school is one of our most loved programs for good reason. It meets young people at one of the biggest crossroads of their lives and gives them the skills, the confidence, and the friendships to walk forward with their heads held high. 💛

A massive thank you to this Year 6 teacher and their incredible students. We are cheering you on every step of the way. 🙌

Stepping into adulthood rarely happens all at once.

More often, it’s small moments. A responsibility. A realisation that something has changed and there’s no going back to who you were before.

Scottie shares one of those moments from his own life: receiving his first full week’s pay at 16, learning to budget, contribute at home, and eventually save enough to buy his first car.

It wasn’t just about the money. It was about responsibility, independence, and beginning to see himself differently.

These moments matter.

They shape identity, they build capability, and they mark the gradual transition from childhood into adulthood.

At AdventureWorks WA, this is why we believe in creating intentional experiences that help young people step into responsibility, challenge, and self-discovery in meaningful ways.

Reflect for a moment:
What was a moment in your life where you truly felt yourself stepping into adulthood?

When staff leave camp with just as many memories as the students — that's a win. 🌿

This reflection from a Year 9 teacher at the Into Adulthood Camp is a beautiful reminder that outdoor education isn't just transformative for the kids, it brings entire school communities together in ways a classroom simply can't.

We take enormous pride in the facilitators we put in front of these activities. Skilled, caring, and dedicated to making every moment count.

Our team is always proud of every student who stepped up and embraced every challenge.

Stories shape us.

Long before lessons or lectures, humans learned through story. Through shared experiences, reflections, mistakes, humour, challenge, and wisdom passed from one generation to the next.

One of the most powerful things we see on program is what happens when young people are given the space to truly share their stories and to be genuinely listened to.

Around the campfire, something shifts.

Walls come down.
People relate.
Young people realise they’re not alone in what they think, feel, or experience.

Stories create connection in a way that being “told what to do” rarely can.

And it’s not just young people who hold powerful stories. Parents, grandparents, teachers, mentors, every person carries experiences that can offer perspective, meaning, and wisdom to the next generation.

At AdventureWorks WA, storytelling isn’t just an activity. It’s part of how young people build identity, connection, empathy, and understanding.

Because often, the stories we share become part of the legacy we leave behind.

Today’s young people are growing up in a world of constant stimulation.

Notifications. Short-form content. Endless scrolling. Very little stillness.

And while the conversation around screen time often focuses on restriction, we believe there’s a deeper question worth asking:

What are screens replacing?

Because when screen time increases, something else decreases:
- Time outdoors
- Face-to-face connection
- Reflection and boredom
- Space to think

In our latest blog, we explore why nature matters more than ever for today’s teens, not as an “escape” from modern life, but as a powerful environment for focus, emotional regulation, identity development, and genuine connection.

One of the most powerful things we see on program is what happens when the digital noise disappears.
- Conversations deepen.
- Attention returns.
- Young people reconnect — with themselves, with others, and with the world around them.

Because in a world designed to constantly capture attention, nature gives something rare: Space to breathe, reflect, relax and reset.

The camp ended. The conversations didn't. 💬🏕️

New friendships. New confidence. New stories worth telling.

This is what happens when young people are given the space to step outside their comfort zones and connect with others.

We're so grateful for this kind message from a Year 9 parent, and we're with you hoping this opportunity continues. 💛
