The 'Dorrobbee Grass' is a 6-hectare community managed reserve on the corner of Dunoon Road and Frazer Road just north of Dunoon village. It was originally gazetted as a public reserve in 1878 as a 400-acre parcel of open grassland. The open grassy clearing within the broader Big Scrub was and still is clearly a site of significance to the Widjabul/Wia-bal people. The land managers today are a tea

m of local volunteers appointed by Crown Lands. We acknowledge the Widjabul/Wia-bal as traditional custodians of this land, have deep respect for the cultural values of this site and appreciation for traditional cultural fire practices that were implemented across this grassland for thousands of years. We wish to maintain the grasses through cool burn management in partnerships with the Widjabul/Wia-bal community and Aboriginal rangers. We welcome community involvement in the management of the grasslands. We hold working bees on the first Sunday of every month between 8:30 and 11am.

Hi All.
Just in case you're having a quick coffee before getting your rain coat and heading to the grasslands we are postponing 8am.
Just discussing now wether we could do an hr or two later in the day.

Dorrobbee Grass volunteer working bee this Sunday 1st of Feb 8am to 10.30. The main task is removing seed heads of exotic grasses - bring a bag and secatuers. Easy work but very helpful to have many hands. Welcome to come along just an hour if that's all you can spare.

FYI,
If your walking at Dorrobbee Grasslands Reserve be mindful, large brown snake sighted.

Smoke on the hill. There will be an attempt this morning to burn off another small patch of grass this morning at Dorrobbee Grass - hoping to get it in before the rain comes.
