Update on the function that was planned with Parramatta District Cricket Club at Toongabbie Sports club on Friday 14 November 2025. The event has now been cancelled and postponed to a date that will be determined.
Meanwhile Doug and the Doug Walters Foundation are meeting with representatives from Hunter Valley Junior Cricket next week to finalise arrangements for a 'Doug Walters Shield' round robin Cricket competition between involving Dungog and surrounding primary schools commencing early 2026. Further information to follow!!!

📍 A Day to Remember in Dungog 🏏

Today, history was made as the long-awaited statue of our hometown hero, cricketing legend Mr Doug Walters, was officially unveiled in Dungog, NSW. A moment years in the making one that truly put Dungog on the map.

Locals and visitors alike gathered in the heart of town, many clutching books, bats, and scrap paper in hopes of securing an autograph from the man of the moment. Cameras flashed, laughter echoed, and memories were shared.

With fellow cricketers by his side and the crowd in full voice, Doug stood proudly, eyes glistening as we honoured not just his incredible sporting achievements, but the spirit, humility and joy he’s brought to so many.

The atmosphere was electric, yet full of heartfelt emotion. A proud day not only for Doug and his family, but for the entire community.

To see one of our own immortalised in bronze a bloke who once chased dreams on these very fields is something we’ll never forget.
