It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to attend the Young Judges Day event in Mendooran today. We set up along side Rhett Robinson from Local Land Services. It may have been raining but 180 kids made for a fun and busy day.

Hats off to all of the volunteers of the Mendooran PH & A Association, community members and participating schools that pull this wonderful event together each year.

Nice one ladies 🙌
What a fabulous turn out for our ‘Rural Women’s Fi****ms Safety Workshop’

A huge thank you to Mendooran Clay Target Club (Mendooran Gun Club) for hosting today.
Peter Tremble, Debbie Kiem & Paula Purvis for speaking to all things gun safety on and off farm and women in fi****ms sports. Inspiring, informative & relaxed!

We are excited for the next step toward some of the participants achieving their fi****ms licence and hopefully joining their local club.

Thank you Mendooran Cafe & Convenience for catering for this event, beautiful job as always and Blue Sky Trading Co for the gluten free sweet treats.

Supporting and empowering women to achieve with confidence. 🥇👏

This event has been supported by the NSW Government through the Landcare Enabling Program Phase 3 Innovations and Partnerships Program.

Rethink Farm Waste - Scrap Metal!

Some materials may incur processing fees, and some local waste facilities may not accept all waste types. Check your council’s website https://www.warrumbungle.nsw.gov.au/Residents-Services/Waste-Recycling/Waste-Facilites or call ahead before taking agricultural waste to your local facility at Coonabarabran, Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Dunedoo, Mendooran and Ulamambri Warrumbungle Shire Council

Ready for a clean up of your farm scrap metal?

Old fencing wire, mesh, gates, posts, galvanised pipe and fittings, roofing iron and machinery parts can quickly pile up around sheds and paddocks. Cleaning it up frees up space, and reduces hazards for people, animals and machinery. It also keeps a valuable resource in use.

Steel can be easily recycled and used to make new products such as building beams, car parts and railway tracks. If you have a large amount, contact a scrap metal merchant – your scrap metal may have some value.

Before taking scrap metal to your local waste facility; Confirm what is accepted and any of the associated fees or preparation required.

1. Separate wire and metal from posts, footings and plastics.
2. Bundle or contain loose wire.
3. Remove oil, fuel, coolant and batteries from machinery and vehicles.
4. Secure and cover your load.

Three Rivers Landcare encourages farmers and landholders to take a look around their properties and make a plan to dispose of scrap metal and wire responsibly.

This information is part of the year-long AgWaste project, delivered by Central West Landcare groups in partnership with NetWaste.

This initiative is made possible by the NSW Landcare Enabling Program, a collaboration between Local Land Services and Landcare NSW, supported by the NSW Government.
