๐Ÿ‘ฃ Gather Your Team & Walk With Us

We encourage workplaces, businesses, organisations, sporting clubs, community groups and service providers to gather your people and walk together as a team.

Choose a team name, wear your workplace or organisation shirts, invite your colleagues and friends, and come along to show your support for su***de awareness, prevention and the importance of connection.

You donโ€™t need to be a large organisation to make a difference. Every person, every conversation and every step matters.

๐Ÿ’œ Why Walk?

You might be walking:

* In memory of someone youโ€™ve lost
* In support of someone doing it tough
* For your workplace or organisation
* For yourself
* To raise awareness
* To show your community that you care

Everyone is welcome โ€” all ages, individuals, families, friends, workplaces and community groups.

๐ŸŽฝ Free T-shirts will be available for participants while stocks last. Arrive from 11.00am to collect yours.

Following the walk, weโ€™ll come together for a short ceremony and BBQ lunch, creating an opportunity to connect, reflect and continue the conversation.

Look out for the NALAG Grief Support team in their purple shirts. Weโ€™ll be there to chat, connect and let you know about the grief and loss support available through NALAG.

๐Ÿ“ Please Register

To help us with catering numbers and event planning, we ask that everyone attending please register via link in comments below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

If youโ€™re coming as a workplace, business or organisation, weโ€™d love for one person to register your team and include the approximate number of people attending.

Please register even if youโ€™re simply coming along for the walk โ€” it helps us make sure we have enough lunch for everyone! ๐Ÿ’œ

๐ŸŒฟ Letโ€™s Walk Together

We know that conversations about su***de, mental health, grief and loss arenโ€™t always easy.

But creating opportunities for connection, conversation and community can make a difference.

So gather your team.
Lace up your shoes.
Wear your purple.
Bring your family, friends and colleagues.
And walk with us.

Every step we take together is a step towards hope, healing and connection.

๐Ÿ’œ Letโ€™s walk side by side towards a future of hope.

If you or someone you know needs grief support, NALAG provides free national grief support for any loss through 13 000 GRIEF (13 000 474 33). Please note this is not a crisis service. In an emergency, call 000.

We hope to see you โ€” and your team โ€” there!

๐Ÿ’œ DYING TO KNOW DAY ๐Ÿ’œ

Have you been to a Dying to Know Day event? Or are you heading to one this year?

Dying to Know Day is an opportunity to start conversations we donโ€™t always find easy to have โ€” about death, dying, living well and dying well.

And thereโ€™s so much more to the conversation than death itself.

Itโ€™s about planning ahead.
Itโ€™s about knowing what matters to you.
Itโ€™s about supporting the people we love.
Itโ€™s about understanding our choices.
And itโ€™s about making the most of life while weโ€™re living it.

๐Ÿ’œ NALAG Grief Support will be out in the community at a number of Dying to Know Day events, sharing information, support and conversations about loss and grief.

๐Ÿ“ Cobar
๐Ÿ“ Tottenham
๐Ÿ“ Tullamore

Come along, have a conversation, ask questions, listen, learn โ€” and perhaps start a conversation of your own.

Because talking about death doesnโ€™t make it happen.

It helps us live well, plan well and support each other when the time comes.

๐Ÿ’œ Come and learn about death, dying โ€” and everything in between.

As we round up Grief Awareness Month, weโ€™ve been reflecting on how this all began.

National Grief Awareness Day began in the United States through the work of grief advocate Angie Cartwright. What started as a single day dedicated to bringing grief out of the shadows, challenging the myths and clichรฉs surrounding grief, and opening up conversations has grown into something much bigger.

At NALAG Grief Support, we took that idea and turned a day into a week.

And then, recognising that one week wasnโ€™t enough, we turned a week into a month.

Why?

Because grief doesnโ€™t fit neatly into a day, a week or even a month.

Grief is part of life. And awareness of grief needs to be too.

Thatโ€™s why NALAG Grief Support advocates 365 days a year for better grief support, greater awareness and increased grief literacy โ€” so that individuals, families, workplaces and communities can become more grief conscious and grief confident.

Grief Awareness Month may be coming to an end, but our work doesnโ€™t.

Day โ†’ Week โ†’ Month โ†’ 365 days.

Because grief matters.
Every day.
Every loss.
Every story. ๐Ÿ’œ

WORKSHOP 7 IS NOW LIVE!

When Losses Accumulate: Grief, Ageing & Later Life

Growing older can bring many different kinds of loss โ€” changes in health, independence, relationships, identity, routines and community, as well as the death of people we love.

When these losses accumulate, grief can become complex and often goes unrecognised.

In Workshop 7, we explore grief in later life, cumulative loss, and how we can support older people with compassion, dignity and understanding.

๐ŸŽ“ Complete the workshop as part of our Grief Literacy campaign and continue your journey towards understanding grief across the lifespan.
