Tonight was CWA Dubbo Evening Branch’s rostered night to cater for guests at Macquarie Home Stay. We do this 2 to 3 times a year as part of CWA Macquarie Group’s commitment to the community.

Tonight we served Chicken curry, a cowboy casserole, barbecued sausages, potato salad, garden salad, rice, bread rolls with butter (The Little Big Dairy Co.) and followed with a delicious pavlova roll and ice cream!!! It tasted pretty darn good and seemed to fill a few bellies.

Always good to talk to the guest, find out who’s from where, work out who we all know (that 6 degrees of separation rule doesn’t exist here) and help people no matter the journey they are on.

CWA Macquarie Group held its International Day today (Saturday 8th August 2026). We were hosted by the fabulous CWA of NSW: Gilgandra Evening Branch with about 52 people in attendance. Our Fijian inspired luncheon was lovely, lots of lucky door prizes, a great raffle and two guest speakers to top it off. One guest speaker was on the topic of Fiji and gave valuable insights to items that are hard for Fijians to acquire - basics we take for granted such as pads, tampons, books, pencils, perfume and the list goes on. Our second guest speaker (and I’m a shocker for names so apologies) was one of the local community pharmacists. She was also insightful, enthusiastic and so very positive.

Today CWA Macquarie Group had their July council meeting at the Tabragar CWA Branch rooms. Thankfully it was lovely and warm!!!

We had an enjoyable meeting with lots of discussion, laughter, bloopers and general CWA camaraderie.
