Rising Moon Tai Chi School raised an incredible $4,345 for Blind Sports & Recreation Victoria (BSRV), and we couldn’t be more grateful.
A heartfelt thank you to the Rising Moon Tai Chi School in Mornington and its generous community for this truly impactful contribution. Support like this makes a real and lasting difference. As a not-for-profit organisation, BSRV relies on community fundraising to continue delivering programs that improve physical health, emotional wellbeing, and social inclusion for people who are blind or vision impaired. We feel incredibly fortunate to receive such thoughtful and much-needed support.
As part of the World Tai Chi and Qigong Day event on 24 April 2026, more than 80 participants came together in a powerful show of community spirit. One of the most moving moments of the day was the masked Qigong experience, offering participants a brief insight into living without sight. While masks could be removed after a short time, it was a meaningful reminder that this is the daily reality for many in our community.
Adding to the generosity, BSRV staff member Jenny Dodd, who also teaches at Rising Moon Tai Chi School, led a special Crane Qigong class. The session concluded with a beautiful gesture: an origami crane, lovingly handcrafted by members of BSRV’s Origami Group who are blind or vision impaired. The crane symbolised peace, hope, and healing.
Funds raised through the event and GoFundMe campaign will directly support BSRV in continuing to create inclusive sport and recreation opportunities. This generosity helps us reach more people, deliver more programs, and build a more inclusive community for all.
Thank you to everyone involved for your kindness, compassion, and commitment.
