Sophie & Shayna have been close friends for the past 15 years. They invite you to please join their page for fundraising events that will be held by them to raise money & awareness to HVSG. You could greatly be involved by either joining us for our events, sharing & spreading the word of the organisation, our posts, pages & kind donations no matter the amount, everything adds up & goes towards HVSG to continue providing hope & support for the future.
Shayna unfortunately became part of this group in July, 2020 after horribly losing her father, Shane Mears, to homicide.
Sophie also became part of this group in December, 2022 when she tragically lost her younger brother, Austin Parrish, to homicide. Death that is sudden & unexpected, especially violent is extremely disturbing, overwhelming & beyond difficult. Forever left with a range of different emotions & psychological effects that is hard to comprehend if you haven’t experienced. This is just one of the many reasons why we are dedicated with the help & support with everyone around us to acknowledge & honour not only Shane & Austin but all homicide victims & grieving loved ones. Violence is never the answer & by supporting us you are supporting everyone involved & we are deeply appreciative 🫶
Homicide Victims Support Group (HVSG) is a not-for-profit organisation based in New South Wales dedicated to helping support families of homicide victims.
Founded in June, 1993 when the parents of Anita Cobby & Ebony Simpson were introduced to each other.
HVSG offer support groups, counselling, legal information, events & more.
Grace’s Place was then built in Doonside, NSW, named in honour of Grace Lynch, Anita Cobbys mother. A world first residential recovery centre for healing & restoration for children & young adults who have lost a loved one to homicide. There is also support for Carers & families. This is a group you never want to be a part of, but by unimaginable circumstances if you are, with out these amazing people & places, we wouldn’t have the ongoing support provided & needed that we receive.
