We attended a structure fire yesterday. Unfortunately the outstation house was destroyed. Our members also protected another outstation house nearby with the help of Saw Civil. They provided a water truck and grader. Thanks to Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Ergon Energy Network for also standing by at the incidents.

A little late, but we've been busy with a few big jobs this week. It's RFSQ week, when we celebrate and applaud the work our volunteers not only do in Doomadgee, but State wide. If you see our volunteers out and about, let them know your appreciation.

šŸ“… Mark your calendar! The national test of AusAlert is happening on Monday 27 July at around 2pm AEST.

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses cell-broadcast technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

Before AusAlert is ready to use in October 2026, it will be tested across Australia.

On Monday 27 July 2026, a test alert will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia.

This includes most mobile phones, and some smart watches and tablets. Apple iPads don’t receive AusAlerts.

Check this map to see the national test time in your location.

If your device receives the national test, it will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound for 10 seconds before stopping. As the national test is a Critical Alert, this happens even if your device is on ā€˜silent’ or ā€˜do not disturb’.

Set a calendar reminder for the test and help spread the word to family, friends and colleagues. Staying informed is an important part of being prepared. āœ…

How your day can change. We went from doing P3 mask training to assisting Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) with a male patient being brought in by helicopter to Doomadgee.

What can we say! The very first brigade to receive one of the 400 new Starlink devices to assist with communications. A big thanks to Ann Leahy for chosing us to be the first brigade to receive one. When you have several hundred kilometres up here with no phone service and you're the only brigade responding, this is game changing! Queensland Fire Department
