“Once it’s gone, it’s gone.”

For Monica, farming isn’t just a livelihood it’s a responsibility to leave the land better than she found it.

From more than 1,600 olive trees to grass-fed beef production, Monica’s regenerative farming practices show what’s possible when productive land is protected and nurtured for future generations.

The Dookie District isn’t vacant land waiting for development. It’s working land. It’s food. It’s livelihoods. It’s our future.

Once productive agricultural land is lost, we don’t get it back.

When agriculture thrives, local businesses, jobs, services and communities thrive. When productive farmland is lost or disrupted, the impacts extend far beyond the farm gate.

The flow-on effects to small businesses and rural communities that rely on agriculture could be devastating. Farming doesn’t just support individual landholders, it underpins entire local economies.

Businesses like the Dookie Motors have been serving the community for more than 100 years, with their success built on the strength of the surrounding farming sector.

If culturally significant places are not adequately identified, how can they be adequately considered?

Recent analysis has identified greenstone outcrops, historic waterways and wetlands throughout the Dookie Hills that are closely linked to Aboriginal cultural heritage. Many of these features are not captured in current sensitivity mapping due to the broad scale of the datasets used.

Understanding and protecting culturally significant landscapes must be part of any major planning decision. This is why meaningful consultation, local knowledge and on-ground assessment matter.

Only 5% of Australia’s land is suitable for cropping.

The Dookie District sits within that valuable 5%.

This isn’t just about farming. It’s about protecting the agribusinesses, local jobs and regional communities that depend on productive agricultural land.

Over 8,000 signatures. We need 10,000 by 1st July.

This isn’t just about one farm. It’s about protecting a highly productive agricultural region that feeds into local businesses, agribusiness, transport, tourism and the broader economy.

The Stedman family’s story reflects what makes the Dookie District special: productive land, thriving farming businesses and a landscape worth protecting.

We’re not against renewable energy. We’re asking for better planning.

Prime farmland. Local livelihoods. Our future.
