A big thank you to Janet Gatehouse and Sorell Council for the donation of chairs that are surplus to councils needs. The chairs are being put to very good use in our training/meeting room, and replace a collection of mis-matched old and well worn chairs. Thank you again from all of our grateful volunteers.

Hi All Community members,
Sea Rescue Dodges Ferry is taking bookings for our next Recreational Boat Licence course which is scheduled for Sunday the 26th of July 2026. The course will take place at our Base located at 4 Tiger Head Rd, Dodges Ferry. No previous experience is required. Our courses are available for adults and for provisional licence students (aged 12 to 17 years old). Our courses include two theory components and a practical on water session, as well as a Flare demonstration.
All proceeds from our courses go in to funding for Sea Rescue Dodges Ferry.

Our volunteers saw some activity this weekend; phone calls Saturday morning from Tasmania Police and concerned members of the public requesting assistance in relation to a surf ski operator experiencing difficulty near Park Beach. Thankfully the surf ski operator was able to make it ashore safely. The surf ski was recovered several klms away by our crew. Today saw another training session with the Starflight helicopter crew, south of Betsey Island, then a tow job for a vessel experiencing mechanical issues.

For 35 years our deliberate choice for the primary rescue vessel, has been a power cat, and for very good reasons; 18' Shark Cat, 23' Shark Cat, 9 metre Kevlacat, Noosa Cat 2300 and now the awesome Noosa Cat 3000.

On-water training with StarFlight Tasmania over the past several weeks has involved helicopter transfers to and from our rescue vessel, in various weather conditions; a great team effort by all concerned.

Sea Rescue Dodges Ferry is celebrating its 35th year anniversary this weekend at our 2026 Open Day event.
We would like to invite community members to celebrate this very special occasion with us all.

Official welcome speech commences at 12.00 noon from our President, followed by our guest speakers.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Call for assistance received at 7:00 PM tonight, just as the sun is setting - motor sailer with engine troubles travelling from Kettering to Dodges Ferry. Sea Rescue crew assembled and rescue vessel launched at 7:20 PM. Motor sailer located in Fredrick Henry Bay and towed to a mooring - vessel and her crew safe and sound. Sea Rescue crew returned to Dodges Ferry boat ramp at approx 9:15 PM. Well done team.
