“To learn to live in this eternal time is to connect with eternity itself. While ordinary time is mortal, because it makes life mechanical and sterilises it; the other, by not narrowing it within the circle of hours, never perishes. You can fill, therefore, the times of hours, proper to your daily activities, with all normality, in order to satisfy the necessities required by your own existence, but this does not prevent that, above the time of the clock, you also live the time that makes you experience the sublime sensation of existing without the torment of the ties that so anguish the human spirit”. (From the book Dialogues)
⏰ Leaving eternity and entering the rhythm of hours means coming face to face with the finite sense of life, which seems to be only a short line connecting two static dates: that of birth and that of death. Each day lived is one day less; the line is shorter and shorter; time is less and less. Hence the hurry, the urgency, the anxiety. To escape from this circle that imprisons, the being requires understanding that time and life are one and the same.
