Living sustainably can create mindfulness, or overwhelm. It’s all about interpretation and intention. My goal is to use sustainability to simplify my life while increasing the joy and calmness I feel.

I always start with reducing waste. Simply by using all parts of everything to the full extent of its life cycle reduces waste, so finding alternative uses for everything creates a circular economy and eliminates waste from my life. Where do you start your sustainability journey?

At the desert oasis of Bitter Springs, tourists float lazily through water so clear it reflects the piercing blue sky.

Elaine Bayes from Wetland Revival Trust has spent quite a bit of time in the Wimmera with a very special threatened species... the Eltham Copper Butterfly! Elaine will be sharing her comprehensive knowledge of the species and an amazing discovery from earlier this year where her team found the biggest population of ECB's in Victoria.
You can read more about the butterfly here: https://www.abc.net.au/.../largest-home.../101868240 Shared via Wimmera Diversity Seminar's page

A wildlife trust has found Wimmera reserves, in Victoria's west, is home to Australia's largest population of Eltham copper butterflies.

Dimboola's Secret Garden Project
Do you have some fruit trees in your garden that you are struggling to care for or harvest?
Dimboola Urban Landcare (DULG) is appealing to residents who have fruit trees in their garden that they cannot manage or need some help with?
The idea is that any fruit that is harvested is shared amongst the site owners, pickers and into a local food share cart. The food share cart helps in the distribution of the fruit free to people within the community or use it in preserving activities if suitable.
Fruit harvested through Dimboola’s Secret Garden might otherwise go to waste. Now, it could be gratefully received by pickers & community members. Where needed, DULG can also help look after the trees, with annual pruning and general care.
Message DULG if you are interested in being involved.

Dimboola Urban Landcare is also looking for new members who may want to assist with this and other local environmental projects. The requirement is enthusiasm to do something for the community.
