We are pretty quiet on the Socials the DREAM group but that doesn't mean we are not busy.

A bit of a recap of what the group has been up to.

We have begun engaging with candidates for the upcoming State election to ensure the needs of Diggers Rest are heard.
Below is the current list based on resident feedback and the PSP.

If residents have other suggestions that they would like to see us advocate on please comment.

We will also look to incorporate soon with rules that protect the integrity of our group and ensure we stay true to our purpose. This will give more of the community an opportunity to engage with our group as we evolve to the next iteration of what the group can be for residents. We will keep you posted.

For community groups looking for support please consider making an application.

Our local volunteers do incredible work supporting people right across our community.

The Albanese Government is delivering another round of Volunteer Grants, with local not-for-profit organisations able to apply for funding between $1,000 and $5,000 to support their volunteers and strengthen their work.

Expressions of Interest are now open through my office.

If your organisation supports volunteers in Hawke, I encourage you to apply here: https://tinyurl.com/HawkeEOIVolGrants

EOIs close Friday 20 March.

DREAM Welcomes the attention on Vineyard road and we want to thank David O'Connor for his continued Advocacy for Diggers Rest.

We understand this action is in response to an individual letter in support of a resident about the latest accident on Vineyard road at the corner of Eucalyptus drive and Hero street.

We, like David support any action to make this road safer but simply lowering the speed limit is not enough, the Precinct Structure Plans (PSP's) call for the duplication so further advocacy is needed.

Having engaged with David on this matter we know he supports further safety improvements and will continue to support our ongoing calls for the duplication and safety improvements.

Advocacy is a collective effort and we appreciate everyone that reaches out and helps deliver outcomes for residents.

The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) is in the early stages of planning for safer speed limits on Vineyard Road, with residents welcoming the news but calling for further safety improvements. As reported by Star Weekly, in 2018 VicRoads ruled out installing safety barriers along a stretch....

The DREAM group has built it's platform on local community advocacy.

Like any advocacy it often takes many hands to make a difference, we are thrilled to see other advocacy groups step up to help support better outcomes for community.

The latest group is the Good Neighbours Movement, head on over to their site, give them a like and complete their survey to have your voice heard https://www.facebook.com/goodneighboursmovement

We believe in building places where people feel safe, supported, and connected.

Residents of Diggers Rest have repeatedly inquired about a second School for Diggers Rest.

🏫A non-government school has long been identified in the PSP.

We have written a number of letters over the years to MP's Federal and State to advocate for this school.
We have also written to the most likely operator of this site https://www.macs.vic.edu.au/ for an update.

When we first contacted MACS they had just commenced a review of the long term strategic provision plan for the area and at the time they did not see an immediate need for the additional school in Diggers Rest.

The DREAM group provided some data to MACS and are pleased to say that MACS are now considering the Diggers Rest site as part of their future plans.

We will do our best to keep you updated!
