This Reconciliation Week, Intereach staff have been out across our region attending events. This year's theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to step off the sidelines and commit to reconciliation every single day through actions that create meaningful change. At Intereach, that's exactly what we aim to do every day.

Members of our executive and leadership teams joined the Gathering on Country at the beautiful Dharnya Centre, alongside Robynne Nelson (Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung and Waywurru woman), Aunty Vicki Walker (Yorta Yorta woman) and SSD Connect Alliance's First Nations adviser for Loddon Mallee and Hume. The day began with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony by Ralph Hume, a proud Yorta Yorta man, before moving into cultural competency sessions grounded in truth-telling and a holistic understanding of Elder wellbeing. Uncle Col Walker closed the afternoon sharing stories of growing up in Cummeragunja that stayed with everyone long after the day ended.
Members of our executive team also attended a flag-raising ceremony in Albury, joining the community to mark the week in a meaningful way.

Intereach is proud to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and communities across our region, and our Reconciliation Action Plan reflects our ongoing commitment to walking alongside First Nations peoples in a way that is genuine, respectful and grounded in listening.

๐Ÿ’› Today we pause to remember the Stolen Generations - the tens of thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, their culture, and their Country.

โค๏ธ We acknowledge the deep and ongoing grief this caused, and we honour the strength of Survivors and their families who carry that history with them every day.

๐Ÿ–คSorry is more than a statement. It requires action'. It means listening to Survivors. Learning the truth. Building relationships grounded in respect. And speaking up when we see racism and injustice.

โœŠ This land always was, and always will be, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land.

A big thank you to Lily from Deniliquin High School (Official) for joining us this week for work experience! ๐Ÿ‘

During the week, Lily learnt more about the wide range of programs and services we deliver across the community, including Aged Care, Family Day Care, family groups, NDIS services, and our corporate support teams.

She also joined in the fun at our Wiggle and Giggle group singing plenty of โ€œHeads, Shoulders, Knees and Toesโ€ along the way! ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ˜Š

Weโ€™ve loved having Lily with us and sharing insight into the rewarding work of community services. We wish her all the best as she explores a future career in the social services sector. ๐Ÿ’™
