It's never too late.

Today we had the honour to present our eldest veteran, with 2 medals earned during his service over 80 years ago.
Byron Goodsell, noticed that 102 year old Russell Eames was short a couple of medals when chatting to him on ANZAC Day last year.
After a lot of work, today he got to present Russell with his missing medals; the 1939-1945 Star, and the Australian Service Medal 1945-1975 w/ SW Pacific Clasp.

Bravo Zulu.

On behalf of all those who participated in and attended the ANZAC Day commemorations on Saturday, we extend our sincere thanks.

Your presence, respect and support ensured that the spirit of the ANZAC's were honoured in the way they deserve to be. From the quiet reflection at dawn, broken only by our resident kookaburra, to the shared moments of remembrance throughout the day, we came together with reverence and pride.

The legacy and stories of our servicemen and women continue to be told in the town. We will remember them.

Our gratitude is extended to the Edward River Council, Murray River Police District, Deniliquin RSL Club, 307 Cadet Unit, Deniliquin Aero Club, Murray Border Flying Club, Edward River Concert Band, Sing Australia - Deniliqiun, Kim Thomas, Tristan Coote, Nigel Wettenhall, Father Tim and Bruce Driver, Wayne Bradley for all images attached and many more on his profile, the sub-branch members and countless other helpers and supporters over the day.

Lest we forget.

On ANZAC Day, many of us carry more than memories, we also carry the stories of our families who served.

Wearing a relatives or loved ones medals is a personal way to honour their sacrifice, to feel close to them, and to ensure their legacy lives on. It’s something Deniliquin has done for generations, standing together in remembrance and respect.

If you choose to wear family medals, remember they are worn on the right side of your chest, to show they belong to someone you are honouring. It’s a simple tradition, but one that carries great significance to the veterans.

A sprig of rosemary is the traditional accompaniment, but worn on the left, on ANZAC day as it grew wild on the Gallipoli peninsula.

Lest we forget.

ANZAC Day 2026.

Please join us as we commemorate the service of all soldiers, sailors, and air personnel that have served and honour the local veterans in and around the Deniliquin area.

If you’re planning on enjoying the races, trying your luck at 2-up later in the day, or just having the day to yourself. Make sure you’ve taken the time to attend one of the services.

No service… no bragging rights at 2-up.

Lest we forget.
