Lest we forget

RSL NSW extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Special Air Service Regiment soldier Warrant Officer Class Two Lachlan Muddle, who tragically lost his life during a parachuting training incident at Jervis Bay Airfield, on the state’s south coast.

Our thoughts are also with the other soldier injured in the incident, and with the broader Defence community at this difficult time.

Training accidents are a stark reminder of the risks our servicemen and women continue to face in service to the nation, both here at home and abroad.

We ask that the privacy of those affected be respected.

We honour the service and sacrifice of all Australian Defence Force personnel who continue to put themselves in harm’s way in service of our country.

Lest we forget 🌺

The Delegate RSL sub-Branch has, as usual, put out Australian National Flags on Veterans' graves in Delegate & Corrowong cemeteries.

Of course, it takes human effort to make this happen, and this year that effort, on top of all her other duties, was performed by the sub-Branch Treasurer, Bec Kading. She was assisted by good friend of the sub-Branch, Tommy Kading. BZ you two!

Two-up is one of Australia’s favourite ANZAC Day traditions. A traditional gambling game that was often played by Australian diggers during World War I, the origins of two-up are a mystery. Early versions of the game can be traced as far back as the convict years and are believed to have evolved from the 18th century English and Irish game, ‘cross and pile’.
