The stain glassed windows in St James church at Delamere feature St James Major, Jesus Christ, and St John, and St James Major. In 1889, young Archie Grundy unveiled the St James Major window to the memory of his mother Rosalie Grundy, who died giving birth to him.
The Friends of St James have contacted Mr Ken Grundy of Naracoorte who has sent an extract written by Archdeacon Morse and published in 'The Southern Churchman' in March 1888. Arch or Archie was the first cousin to Ken's father.
'It hath pleased God again to visit this parish and remove from amongst us one whom to know was to love, one who was loved by all...Rosalie Grundy (nee Lord) lived in the parish from her earliest childhood. Brought up, as it were, under the shadow of the church of St James which she dearly loved, she was always glad and willing to help in church work, either as an organist or in any way. She will be greatly missed.'
Archdeacon Morse said she had 'the satisfaction of seeing her week old infant baptised before she died' and he acknowledged 'the bereaved husband, who by his consistent and straight forward conduct has earned him [his neighbours'] esteem and respect'.
