Dr Justin Coulson, a renowned child psychologist has offered these thoughts for parents wanting to support their children after the horrific events at Bondi Beach. Our thoughts are with the Jewish Community, the first responders and the many people affected.

From Justin Coulson:

The news coming out of Bondi Beach this evening is beyond distressing. As details emerge, here are some important guidance for parents:
1. Keep your kids away from the television and social media.
They do NOT need to see footage of people fleeing, hear gunshots, or watch distressing scenes from one of Sydney's most iconic beaches. (Frankly, none of us do.)
2. Limit your own media consumption.
You can't support your children when you're overwhelmed. Check reliable sources for updates, then step away. Your nervous system needs a break too.
3. Be honest but age-appropriate.
If your kids know something happened, acknowledge it simply: "There was a scary incident at Bondi Beach. Police responded quickly, people are in custody, and we're safe." Don't elaborate unless they ask.
Think of it like thirst. Someone asks for a drink... do you turn on the fire hose? Nope. You give them a glass of water. If they need more, they'll let you know.
4. Watch for their reactions, not just their words.
Anxiety shows up as clinginess, trouble sleeping, regression, or irritability. Create extra closeness tonight - read together, stay nearby, keep routines predictable.
5. Model calm, not panic.
Your children are watching how YOU respond to frightening news. Take deep breaths. Speak steadily. Show them that even when scary things happen in the world, we can still feel safe in our homes and communities.
6. Remember: This is rare.
Australia remains one of the safest countries in the world. Don't let this moment overshadow that truth for your children.

That’s a wrap for our kindy year! 🌟
What an incredible year it has been — full of laughter, dancing, volcano-building, mud-pit waterways, waterfront adventures and plenty of bike riding! These are just some of the many wonderful experiences we’ve shared together.

A huge thank you to our amazing Parent Committee for the many hours you’ve volunteered. Our kindy is the special place it is because of your dedication and support. 💛

Thank you also to our wonderful teachers, who go above and beyond every single day, always putting children at the heart of everything we do.

To our children heading off to Prep — we will miss you, but we know you are ready for this exciting new adventure. ✨
And to those returning in 2026 — we can’t wait to welcome you back for another year of fun, learning and play!

Group Two had a wonderful last couple of days! Wednesday was spent having one last bike ride, swing, dance and dig in the mud pit with our kindy friends!
Yesterday was our last day celebration. We shared some memories and made new ones dancing and celebrating with our families! It was a beautiful way to end a wonderful year!

Group One celebrated their last day with an art show. The children proudly showed their families the paintings and drawings they had prepared. The families then shared a picnic lunch before saying goodbye 👋. We have had such a wonderful year and we wish the children all the best for 2026.

Both groups had lots of fun on our water play days! This is another way we celebrate as we wind up a wonderful kindy year!

Thank you to all our families for their understanding when we had to close last week following the storm. Thank you to the committee and their friends and for cleaning up our playground so we could be back in action this week! It is great to be back playing and enjoying our last few days of term!

Unfortunately we sustained some damage in the storm with trees down in the playground. As you can imagine all the tree loppers are extremely busy and we are unable to secure anyone to clean up until Friday. Unfortunately this means kindy will remain closed until next week. Sorry for this inconvenience but the safety of our children must come first. We hope everyone is ok! Please stay safe this storm season ⛈️

Due to damage to trees in the playground we are closed today.
