FA’AFETAI TELE LAVA!

What a beautiful day of celebration, culture, connection, and community 🇼🇸

On behalf of the Aiga Samoa Association, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped make our Samoa Independence Day Celebration such a special success✨🙏🏽

To our major sponsors, City of Moreton Bay and Refocus, thank you for believing in our vision and helping us create a space where our culture, language, and heritage could be celebrated and shared!

To all of our sponsors, contributors, donors, and supporters, your generosity and willingness to give made a huge difference. Every contribution, big or small, helped bring this event to life.

To our vendors, thank you for sharing your businesses, time, gifts talents, and delicious food with our community.

To our performers, DJ, church and community groups, thank you for filling the day with the pride, beauty, and spirit of Samoa.

To our volunteers, committee members, youth, and families who worked tirelessly behind the scenes before, during, and after the event, we are incredibly grateful for your service and dedication.

And finally, to everyone who came along to celebrate with us — thank you. Seeing our community come together, reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and proudly celebrate our independence is what makes all the hard work worthwhile.

This year’s Samoa Language Week theme, “‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu’u,” was brought to life yesterday through the service, generosity, and spirit of our community. Fa’afetai tele lava to all who helped make it possible.

God bless you and your families.

WT Lawyers will be hosting a stall at Samoa Independence Day this Saturday 6 June at Pine Rivers Park.

We also celebrate Aiga Samoa’s very own Landora Fili who was recently admitted as a Lawyer in Queensland.

Congratulations Landora on this incredible achievement. You are a blessing to your aiga and an inspiration to our community.

Malo le tauivi ma le taumafai 💪🏽

>> THE COUNTDOWN IS ON! 🇼🇸

Just one more sleep until we celebrate 64 years of Samoa’s Independence!

Shout out to our awesome volunteers who will be rocking our main sponsors and this year’s message:

“Tautuanā lau Fa’aaloalo | Don’t forget Respect.”

As we prepare for tomorrow’s festivities, let’s remember that respect is at the heart of who we are — FA’AALOALO (RESPECT) for our culture, our families, our community, and each other.

FYI - we’ve also have been blessed with gift vouchers from Bros Brownies and Fizz, so get ready for some good old fashion DANCE OFFS! 💃🏾🕺🏾

We can’t wait to see you all tomorrow!

Day 6 — Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa 🌺 🇼🇸

“‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu’u.”

As we prepare to celebrate Samoa’s Independence Day tomorrow, we remember that some of our fondest memories are made around the table with family and friends.

Food brings us together, but language helps us connect.

🌺 Family Activity:
Practise asking for food and drinks in Samoan during a family meal today so that you can get some real life practice with the vendors at tomorrow’s festivities!

Try phrases like:

💙 “Fa’amolemole, e mafai ona ou maua le…” (Please, may I have…)
💙 “Fa’afetai.” (Thank you.)
💙 “E manaia tele!” (It’s very delicious!)

Challenge your family to use as much Samoan as possible at the dinner table tonight and you’ll be all ready to celebrate tomorrow🇼🇸

Every conversation, no matter how small, helps keep our language strong for future generations.

Manuia le Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa 🌺

“‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu’u.”

This week we’ve celebrated the words, phrases, and wisdom that connect us to our culture. Today, our youth shared some of their favourite Samoan words… which quickly turned into a conversation about their favourite Samoan foods! 😂

From oka and panikeke to sapasui and keke māmoe, food has a special way of bringing people together.

Around the table, stories are shared, memories are made, and our language continues to be passed from one generation to the next.

🌺 Family Activity:
Ask each member of your family to share their favourite Samoan food and the memory that comes with it. Who taught them to make it? When do they eat it? What makes it special?

Every family story helps keep our culture alive.

Manuia le Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa 🌺🇼🇸

Fa’afetai tele lava to our Vice President of Aiga Samoa Association, Sagapolutele Margaret Gale for her beautiful words of wisdom and encouragement for day 4 of our Samoan Language Week! ❤️

🌺Family Activity:
We’re seeing everyone sharing their villages online. If you don’t know already, learn the villages your family hails from and share them with a friend! You might be surprised to find out some new relations🥰

3 more sleeps til our Samoan Independence celebration! I hope we’re all ready for a beautiful day of culture 🇼🇸

🌺 Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa • Happy Samoan Language Week 🌺🇼🇸

“E le sili le ta‘i i lo le tapua‘i.”

No one achieves success alone. Behind every accomplishment are the people who support us, encourage us, pray for us, and help us along the way.

As we celebrate Samoan Language Week, this proverb reminds us to honour not only those in the spotlight, but also the parents, grandparents, teachers, leaders, and loved ones whose quiet service strengthens our families and communities.

🌺 Family Activity:
Take a moment today to thank someone who has supported you. Share this proverb with them and let them know how much their encouragement means to you.

💙 Fa’afetai i ē o loo tapua’i mai mo i tatou.

Manuia le Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa ; A*o Lua! 🇼🇸

“‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu‘u.”
(From the high mountains are the blessings of the village)

🌺 Family Activity:
Today, challenge your family to use all three phrases of the day in conversation:

Count how many times your family uses each phrase today. Which one was used the most?

By speaking even a few words each day, we help keep the Samoan language alive and thriving for future generations.

Happy Samoan Language Week! 🇼🇸

The official 2026 theme is ‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu'u (From the high mountains are the blessings of the village).

This theme emphasizes that language and culture are gifts passed down through generations to sustain and bless the community.

🌺 Family Activity: Work together as a family to use these words in sentences. Try your best to use those sentences each time you need to say it. E.g instead of ‘thank you mum’, use ‘fa’afetai tinā’
