2026 Surf Coast Shire Community Art Prize

The Surf Coast Shire Community Arts Prize celebrates the creativity and talent of artists from across the Surf Coast Shire.

Local artists are invited to enter an original artwork for the chance to exhibit at Anglesea Art Space from 8 to 25 October 2026 and be considered for a range of awards.

The overall Community Art Prize is $1,500, with additional awards for an Emerging Artist, First Nations Creative and People’s Choice, bringing the total prize pool to $3,600.

Entry is free and artists at all stages of their creative practice are encouraged to take part.

Applications are now open and close Monday 28 September 2026.

🌱🍏 **Got extra produce in your garden? Share it with the community this Friday at the Community Dinner** 🍅🥕

Give what you can & take what you need!

When we come together to enjoy a meal, you’re also invited to share any excess fruit, veggies, herbs or other produce from your garden and add it to the **Grow Free Pantry**. You can also collect some groceries from the **Free Pantry** outside the hall if you need them.

If you’d like to contribute produce:

🥕 Bring it to the Deans Marsh Community Hall from 10.00 am this Friday.

It’s a lovely way to share the abundance in our community. 🌿

♻️ 10c CAN & BOTTLE REFUNDS AT THE COTTAGE! 🥤

From next week, The Cottage will be accepting eligible cans and bottles through Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme.

💰 10c refund per eligible container
🏡 Drop them off at The Cottage
♻️ Or, if you’re making a deposit yourself at a refund point, you can select Deans Marsh Community Cottage to donate your refund to our community.

Every can and bottle helps — whether it’s 10c in your pocket or 10c supporting The Cottage!

So start saving those eligible containers and bring them along from next week. 🌱

FARMER & FAMILY FRIDAYS — TONIGHT!

Come along for a relaxed catch-up with fellow farmers and families from around the district.

Lisa, our hard working Community Dinner Coordinator, will be at The Cottage this Friday 28 August, from around 9.00 am to 10.30 am and then 11.30 am to 2.00 pm.

Lisa will have the kiosk open if you need to collect any frozen meals for yourself or people that you know need a helping hand. The freezer is full! At 10.30 am, she'll pop down to Winchelsea to get more items for the Free Pantry and Grow Free Pantry so it will be fully stocked with items from Geelong Foodshare, Hesse Rural Health, FoodWorks Lorne, The Store Deans Marsh and the Deans Marsh Primary School and as always, we thank them for their support of our community.

If you'd like a hamper packed, please text Lisa on 0438 521 945 by Thursday and let her know. You can collect it at 12.00 noon on Friday.

If you need access to The Cottage printers/photocopier, she will be able to assist you. If you want to talk to her about volunteering at our Community Dinners, she will be happy to meet you to discuss any queries you have.
