Our Cubs had a great weekend at their camp recently. Dubbed the 'self-sufficient' camp, these kids, aged between 8 and 11, planned, organised and ran this camp themselves while the adults got to sit back for a change!
Arriving on Saturday, they first assigned each other camp leadership roles (like treasurer, camp director, head chef, scribe, timekeeper etc) then set about planning a menu before we headed off into Dayboro to buy the food they'd need. Impressively, they smashed their goal of staying under budget so a celebratory block of chocolate was definitely in order!

Back at camp they did all their cooking and cleaning alongside running their own activities and games together. It was a great exercise in stepping up to the plate and learning how to work well in a team, especially with people you might not normally get along with! We're very proud of our Dayboro crew. ✨
A big thank you to our parents who came along to help make it possible too. We're so blessed in this community 😊

Extremely sad news for our friends and fellows in NOSU (National Organization of Scouts in the Ukraine). If any of our followers and supporters are able and moved to assist with this, please do. As a group, Dayboro will put our heads together to see how we can best help.

(At the time of writing, there is $1.63 AUD to €1.)

Last night, a Russian missile hit the factory where NOSU produces Scout uniforms.

We lost the fabric that had already been purchased, as well as uniforms that had already been produced and paid for, but not yet collected.

This happened just before the summer camp season, and all the uniforms lost belonged to new Scouts who had recently joined NOSU. For many of them, this summer will bring their first real Scout camp experience.

We cannot ask families to pay for the same uniform twice, but at the same time, NOSU is not in a position to replace everything that was lost on its own.

So today, we are turning to our friends, partners, and the global Scout community for support.

We all know that a Scout uniform is more than a shirt. It is about belonging, dignity, and equality. It is the feeling of standing together as part of a patrol, a troop, and the worldwide Scout family.

Please help us give these new Scouts the start to Scouting they deserve.

With your support, we will produce new uniforms and get them to the Scouts who have been waiting for them before their first summer camps.

- €20 provides a Scout uniform for one Ukrainian Scout
- €40 provides uniforms for two Ukrainian Scouts
- €100 provides uniforms for five Ukrainian Scouts

As a small thank-you:

- If you donate €20+, you will receive a thank-you video from a Ukrainian Scout.

- If you donate €40+, you will receive a thank-you video and a handmade postcard created by one of our Cub Scouts.

- If you donate €100+, you will receive a thank-you video, a handmade postcard, and a special edition NOSU Scout scarf.

All donations will go directly towards producing Scout uniforms for new Scouts.

All donors will receive a clear report on how the money was spent and what their support made possible.

Please donate using this link: https://secure.wayforpay.com/donate/d93156c4aac21

Thank you for helping us make this possible!

🌿 CLEAN UP THE CREEK – THIS SUNDAY, 9am 🌿

Looking for a great way to spend your Sunday morning while giving back to our beautiful town? Come along and join the crew from Dayboro Lions Club, Pine Rivers Catchment Association and Dayboro Scout Group for our Clean Up The Creek morning at Lee’s Crossing.

We’ll be:
🗑️ Litter picking
🌱 Weeding
🌿 Planting native vegetation

With the weather looking absolutely perfect this weekend, it’s a great excuse to get outdoors, enjoy the fresh air and reconnect with one of Dayboro hidden natural gems. And with the creek flowing nicely, there may even be time for a well-earned dip afterwards! ☀️💦 (we're usually done by Midday).

To thank everyone for lending a hand, Dayboro Lions will be providing a FREE BBQ brunch and drinks for all participants. 🍳🌭🥤

Bring the family, bring some friends, and help us keep Dayboro beautiful for future generations.

Community spirit starts local, we’d love to see you there! 💚
