On the 28th November 2025 a Tree Planting Commemorative Activity was held to honour the memory of Austin Asche. It coincided with his 100th birthday. Guests included family and friends of the Asche family and representatives from the Botanic gardens and members of the the friends.
The tree planted was a raintree, this is a significant and a signature tree of the gardens . It is known to have a long life span and will stand tall in its strength, dignity and beauty.

What an amazing sale. A big thank you to the community who supported our sale. Our shade house hasn't looked this empty for many years. Proceeds from these sales go towards supporting specific projects that enhance and assist the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens and their goals. Our most recent and significant project has been supporting the now opened Dragon courtyard garden. Many thanks to the hard work of our Friends of the Darwin Botanic Gardens who grew all the plants available for the sale.
