Jacquie Cappiello
Condolences to Jackie’s Family
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Jackie, a cherished member of our Italian Club Darwin community.
Jackie and her husband Antonio were among the foundation members of our Club. Over many years, they generously donated their labour, machinery, and expertise to help improve our facilities, always giving without hesitation and with great community spirit.
Jackie’s life, much like Antonio’s, reflected the remarkable journey of many immigrants. Jackie, originally from Trinidad, and Antonio, from Italy, met in Canada before migrating through several countries—including Germany and South Africa—before finally making Australia their home.
Together, they built a small construction company in the 1970s that went on to contribute to hundreds of projects across the Top End. Among the many works they were involved in, two that stand out in our memories are the construction of the Marrara Hockey fields and the works at Tolmer Falls.
Jackie’s legacy lives on in the structures she helped build, the community she supported, and the friendships she formed. She will be remembered with gratitude and affection by all of us at the Italian Club Darwin.
Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.
