A milestone for the Latin American community in the Northern Territory.
On 20 July, the Latin American Association Darwin and the Colombian-Australian Association of the Northern Territory - C O L A N T proudly came together for the historic Latin American Celebration at Parliament House, held in recognition of Colombia’s Independence Day and the growing contribution of the Latin American community across the Northern Territory.
This historic celebration marked an important moment of recognition for our community and reflected the Territory’s commitment to embracing the rich cultures, diversity and contributions that Latin Americans bring to the NT.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Northern Territory Government for recognising this historic celebration at Parliament House, and for opening their doors to our communities. The NT has welcomed people from across Latin America, and today many of us are proud to call this place home. Thank you for creating a community where our cultures are valued, celebrated and able to flourish.
We extend our sincere appreciation to His Honour the Honourable David Connolly, Administrator of the Northern Territory, Jinson Anto Charls MLA Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Gerard Maley MLA: Member for Nelson, Member for Nelson, Steve Edgington MLA and Zio MLA and Oly Carlson MLA, whose presence and support helped make this historic celebration especially meaningful for our community.
A special thank you to His Excellency, the Ambassador of Peru to Australia, Vitaliano Gallardo Valencia, for honouring us with his presence and celebrating this significant occasion alongside our community.
Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to our incredible performers— Northern Tango Darwin, latinassforeva ⭐️ Dance Club ⭐️ , Colombia Baila and Latin Rhythm whose music, dance and passion brought the spirit of Latin America to Parliament House.
