We got to sit down with the wonderful Madeleine from Gunbalanya and have a yarn about the importance of the Remote Laundry for community, and the health benefits that come with having access to clean clothes and bedding. 🧺

The Remote Laundry is FREE for everyone in community to use, so make sure you get down there, say hello to the team and get your washing done!

We don’t know if you heard… but we came home from the 2026 Greater Darwin Regional Business Award Winners with THREE awards! 🏆🏆🏆

We were incredibly proud to receive:
Business Leader of the Year, awarded to our CEO, Liz
Not-for-Profit of the Year
Community & Social Responsibility Award

It was a very special night for our team, and we’re incredibly grateful to have AIG’s work recognised in this way.

But none of this work happens without community.

To the communities who welcome us in, work alongside and trust us to deliver the work on the ground, thank you. That trust is something we never take for granted and sits at the heart of everything we do. ❤️

Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce Northern Territory, the judges and all the nominees for a great night, and congratulations to everyone.

Three awards and one very proud AIG team!

Some exciting news for Remote Laundries! 🫧

AIG has received new Australian Government funding to establish Remote Laundries in Lajamanu, Nauiyu, Mulan and Laura helping us continue to grow the project alongside more remote communities.

But before there are laundries, there are relationships.

Every community is different, and over the coming months our team will be spending time listening, learning and working alongside community members to understand what a Remote Laundry can look like for them.

It’s an exciting next chapter for Remote Laundries, and we’re looking forward to the partnerships, people and stories that will shape it.

On 18 and 19 August, we were back in Gunbalanya for two very special screenings of More Than a Laundry with the wider community. 🫧
After sharing the documentary beyond Gunbalanya, it meant so much to bring it back to the community where this story began and share the finished film with the people who continue to make the Remote Laundry what it is.

We are incredibly grateful for the turnout across the two days and for the ongoing trust the Gunbalanya community continues to place in the laundry and our team.
The Remote Laundry has always been about working alongside community; supporting better health, creating local jobs and providing a service that belongs to and is shaped by the people who use it.

Thank you to everyone who came along and continues to support the laundry. ❤️

If you haven’t had a chance to see More Than a Laundry, you can watch the full documentary now on our YouTube channel.
