The Australian American Association of the Northern Territory was formed to foster and promote better understanding, mutual appreciation and friendly co-operation between the peoples of Australia and the United States of America. The Association has the full support of the Governments of Australia and America. Australia has a special bond with America, a nation with which we share strong cultural,

historic, social and economic ties. We believe it is important for Australia and the USA to have a good relationship now and in the future and for present and coming generations to be aware of, and realize the value of this friendship. Last week, the Australian American Association - Northern Territory hosted a memorial service to commemorate the 84th anniversary of the sinking the of the USS Peary, sunk in Darwin Harbour on 19 February 1942. It is both solemn – we honour those who served and perished that day – and, in a way, celebratory - we celebrate the enduring bonds between Australia and the United States, and reflect on the reconciliation with Japan, now a trusted friend and ally. Lest we forget.

We were honoured to have U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, A/Consul General Jordana Cox, Consul General Osamu Yamanaka, and Captain Bernadette Alexander as speakers, a testament to those bonds as we look to the future.

Thanks to the City of Darwin, the USMC, ADF and the cadets from the RAN. The AAA-NT couldn't have done it without their support. Thanks also to AAA-NT's other sponsors WardKeller - and the Aviation Historical Society of the NT.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Christmas celebration last night! Your presence, laughter, and festive spirit made the event truly special. It was wonderful to come together, share stories, and enjoy the holiday cheer as a community.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Administrator of the Northern Territory, our Patron of the Australian American Association of the Northern Territory, for joining us and for the continued support throughout the year.

We would also like to warmly thank the US Consulate staff who travelled from Melbourne, as well as the Senior ADF Officers and MRF-D for attending. Your presence and partnership mean a great deal, and we were honoured to celebrate the season with you.

A very big thank you as well to Darwin Services Club for providing such a fantastic venue, along with the delicious food and drinks. Your hospitality helped make the evening memorable for us all.

My sincere apologies for the posts about the Local Govt campaign. I absolutely assure you that it was not intentional, but an outcome of my sharing from my personal page which has AAANT as a β€˜friend’.
Really sorry - I would never do that on purpose as I understand the boundaries. It was a mistake. Mea culpa! Please forgive me for what was not a deliberate post. Linda Faz
