Our primary objectives are to promote, support and recognise the efforts of the Territory people and communities through community projects that improve living conditions with particular emphases on litter reduction and waste management in remote communities. KABC NT promotes conservation of natural resources and encourage positive community behaviour and attitude regarding pollution, waste minimi

sation and recycling. We encourage and recognise enterprise and capacity building in Northern Territory communities, through organising regional forums and workshops. In partnership with governments, councils, businesses and communities we encourage the adoption of best practice environmental management. KABC NT has the public profile and network infrastructure needed to provide a resource and referral centre that not only maintains effective communication with regional and remote communities but also provides an information ‘hub’.

Schools granted a special consideration extension for the 2026 Paint Australia Beautiful School Mural Competition have this week to submit their mural designs OR at least let us know you want to be involved.

The process is super simple!!

🎨STEP 1: Find your blank Wall - Imagine it Painted!
🌿STEP 2: Use crayons or pencil and plain A4 or A3 paper. No Special Materials Needed!
🌱STEP 3: Brainstorm your Eco Vision ideas on theme - Protecting for Generations!
🦋 STEP 4: Start drawing: Black and White or Colour - It's the idea that counts!
📬STEP 5: Take a photo or scan your students mural and Submit online in less than 5mins!

Thanks to Dulux , winning schools will receive premium paint and supplies to transform their designs into vibrant murals for everyone to enjoy.

🌿😊 3 WEEKS TO GO UNTIL KAB WEEK 2026! 😊🌿

From 3–9 August, we'll be celebrating the places that help us feel healthier, happier and more connected through this year's theme: Beautiful Spaces - Happy Places 💚

Here in the Northern Territory, we're lucky to be surrounded by some of Australia's most incredible natural environments. Whether it's your favourite beach, waterhole, national park, bush track, billabong, community garden or even your own backyard, spending time in nature has proven benefits for our mental and physical wellbeing.

This KAB Week, we're inviting Territorians to take part in the National Nature Immersion Challenge and reconnect with the outdoors through simple daily activities.

👣 Kick off your shoes and try Barefoot Grounding
🚶 Take a mindful walk through your favourite local spot
🐦 Watch the birds, butterflies and wildlife around you
🌳 Explore a bushwalk, waterhole or national park
🚯 Join a community clean-up or Landcare group
📸 Share your favourite Territory happy place
🧺 Enjoy a zero-waste picnic with family or friends

With just two weeks until submissions officially close, now is the perfect time to start planning your school's mural entry for the 2026 Paint Australia Beautiful School Mural Competition.

School holidays have arrived for NT students, but there's still plenty of time to get involved. Holiday programs, creative workshops, families and students can use the break to brainstorm and design a mural that celebrates nature, sustainability and protecting our environment. It's a chance to create something that could leave a lasting legacy at your school for years to come. 🌏💚 🌏💚

It's as easy as:
