Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported in their relationships, regardless of s*xuality, gender identity or expression. Sadly, LGBTQIA+ people can face unique barriers when seeking help, including discrimination, fear of not being believed, or lack of inclusive services.

Today is IDAHOBIT โ€” the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, discrimination against inters*x people and Transphobia. ๐ŸŒˆ

A global moment to stand against discrimination and come together for equality!

Did you know:
โ€ข 65 UN member States still criminalise consensual same-s*x s*xual acts
โ€ข At least 62 restrict freedom of expression based on s*xual orientation, gender identity and expression, and s*x characteristics
โ€ข Legal gender recognition based on self-identification exists in just 18 countries
โ€ข Only 9 countries prohibit unnecessary medical interventions on inters*x children
โ€ข In Australia, itโ€™s still legal to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people in religious schools and by faith-based service providers

Behind every statistic are people in our communities being denied safety, recognition and equality.

While our experiences may differ across the world, our hope is shared: to live freely, equally and without discrimination - and to be accepted for who we are.

Share this post. Show your solidarity. Stand with LGBTQIA+ communities everywhere.
