By late August, many Polish families begin preparing for the return to school and work after the holidays. It’s a time for buying notebooks, new school bags, and planning for autumn. In Polish tradition, education has always been highly valued, seen as a key to freedom and personal growth. At the Kościuszko Polish Club in Darra, we encourage everyone to support young people in learning Polish language and discovering the history of their ancestors. Polish identity begins at home, in conversation, in books, and in shared family memories.

August is a powerful month in Polish history. It is a time of remembrance for the Warsaw Uprising, but also the month of major social change that led to the birth of Solidarity. Poland has often shown the world that a nation’s strength lies in unity and the belief in freedom. At the Kościuszko Polish Club in Darra, we want to honour this pride and remember that Polish history is not just dates; it is people and their courage.

Sierpień to wyjątkowy miesiąc w polskiej historii. To czas pamięci o Powstaniu Warszawskim, ale także miesiąc wielkich zmian społecznych, które doprowadziły do narodzin „Solidarności”.
