Great to catch up with Anni and “Sir Roberto Garcia” 😁today in our Hub Leader meeting. Many of you will know and love these two amazing people.♥️

Anni runs the Social Prescribing Link program at the Wilsonton Heights Community Centre and is supported by Roberto, to do some amazing work linking families and individuals to community opportunities to assist with wellbeing. It is an amazing program and right now it needs your voice through our local members to support the program and its funding.🙏

Today was a rainy old day wasn’t it? ☔️

But for the kids that came with mum to our TAFE class this morning, well, they had an adventure! 🗺️

Going Fishing With Nana, 🎣written by Frances and Lindsay Haji-Ali and illustrated by Karen Briggs, is a beautiful Australian book with lots of fun finds along the way. All sorts of discoveries were uncovered, when little eyes were seen watching them. 👀

Our wonderful activities included the kids drawing their faces and making Googly Sparkly bottles of fun to take home and lots of other fun stuff.

So great to see the kids having fun learning, ever opportunity matters 🍎

Our favourite photographer📸 and hub participant- Mays, moved to Toowoomba just a few months ago🥳. You might have seen her beautiful flower photos on the page from Carnival time. 🌷

Mays is trying hard to establish a small photography business in town and we would really like to support her.

Helping kids to learn through play is a really great way for them to be school ready and it is a really rewarding job 🥳

Of course Anna and Christine are so wonderful at getting the kids engaged and participating each week and that is so important🍎

Behind the scenes we have a wonderful volunteer, Katrina 🙏who is working hard at creating wonderful resources that support children’s learning and development. It’s so important to have quality resources, so thank you Katrina 💐

This week we were also joined by a volunteer from The Lighthouse Toowoomba, Karen came along on Thursday to spend time with the kids and especially to help engage the kids with books 📕 because we all know that children loving books, is children having the opportunity to be life long learners and that’s a gift that all children should have. 🎁

Darling Heights School is a pretty amazing school 🥳yes I might be slightly biased, but when I think about our fantastic teachers and staff and the incredible support given, not just to our students but to our families, well then it is hard to deny.

The support that I speak of, comes from such a wide range of external organisations 🙏 that work closely with us to make the life of a child or a family a little better♥️.

Of course it isn’t just the organisations, it is the people that work for these organisations🫶because at the end of the day, any organisation is only as good as the people who work within them.

OzHarvest Queensland 💛🖤💛visit us weekly and are incredibly supportive of our students.

Dominic from OzHarvest is an amazing young man that really cares about what he is doing, and for that we are very grateful.

Thank you Dominic🙏 for playing a part of changing the lives of our children and their families ♥️

On Monday morning we were thrilled to have our new Twinkles Book Club Volunteer Reader, Chris, turn up for her first of many 🤞 … visits to our hub to work with our Hubkins ♥️🐇♥️.

Reading books is a wonderful way to connect, to have fun, to teach and to share love with our Hubkins 📚.

What a fantastic opportunity to meet with our broader community this past weekend, to attend a Peace Summit held by the Toowoomba Peace Committee. 🕊️

It was wonderful to have the time, space and forum, to think outside our box about concepts that hopefully will assist us in building frameworks that support peace and the integration of peace into our communities. 🌳

It was very thought provoking. 🤔 We spoke about Songlines, about ancestry, ideas supporting a more peaceful neighbourhood or workspace and how we use social media for good. Not easy questions to answer.

One of the topics that really resonated with me was “How can we become good Ancestors?”

What choices do we make, how do we treat others, what do we do in our day to day life, that might influence someone’s life in the future. It really made me think about what our choices say about us.♥️

We can think about the past, but it is the future that we need to think about ~ let’s share hope and kindness to each other and to our home, let’s reconnect with real people, not our devices, let’s be good ancestors and let’s share the journey towards peace🕊️🕊️

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎄
Well not really but it is only about 11 weeks away 😳

So who better to go and visit than our very own North Pole aka Toowoomba Women's Shed. ♥️ once again the ladies have made us 200 odd Christmas Stockings for the kids🤶
And the girls are still smiling 😁
Thank you ladies for all you do for our school, we are so very Grateful 🌷
