Today volunteers, supporters and friends of our Tassie Camino were invited to join the organising committee at Goverment House for afternoon tea to celebrate 10 years of the Way to St James Cygnet! The Governor, wearing her own scallop shell, welcomed us all and shared a little bit of the history of our pilgrimage. After some refreshments, the Governor’s husband, and former chair of our committee, Don Chalmers gave us a tour of the beautiful state rooms. What a fabulous way to celebrate our 10th anniversary!

WHEN GLOBAL PILGRIM MEETS TASSIE PILGRIM!!
Today was a very special day for the Way to St James Cygnet….. Chuck from the Minnesota Chapter of the American Pilgrims on the Camino journeyed to Tasmania where he got to travel down to Cygnet to visit our Church of St James and to see our brand new Camino marker. Chuck organises for his pilgrims to walk our Global Camino each year, so today Leanne from our committee took him to see the beautiful landscape of our own Tassie Camino on a glorious day, which reminded him of the views of his pilgrimage on the Camino Frances.
A special part of the catch up was exchanging patches for their backpacks!!
Isn’t it wonderful how the Camino unites pilgrims across the world!!
Thanks for visiting and we hope to see you back in January 2026 to walk with us in person Chuck!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Tasmanian Premiere of “Somewhere Along the Way” yesterday in Hobart. What a bonus it was to have the star of the fun Dan Mullins there sharing stories, playing some tunes and answering questions.
What a wonderful way to celebrate all things Camino!!
