On 28 July, our National Trust Library & Research Centre opens its doors for a very special Trust Talks event — Unlocking the Archives: A Behind-the-Scenes.

Step inside a space usually only accessible by appointment. View six significant collection items, don archival gloves, and handle rare objects under expert guidance from Heritage Officer Meg McKavanagh.

Finish with coffee, cake, and time to wander the historic homestead.

What a way to kick off Brisbane Open House 2026! 🎭
Yesterday, we were guests at the stunning Glasshouse Theatre at QPAC for the official launch, and what a venue to celebrate a city throwing open its architectural doors. We were treated to a breathtaking preview performance by Opera Queensland ahead of their upcoming production of Rusalka.
As a Major Partner of Brisbane Open House, National Trust of Australia (Queensland) is proud to be part of an event that invites Queenslanders to discover the stories embedded in the places around them.

From Brisbane to Bristol — and back again with a suitcase full of ideas!

We're so excited to share that our very own Meg McKavanagh, Heritage Officer and Manager of Wolston Farmhouse, is heading to the UK to volunteer at The Dig For Victory Show — one of England's most beloved 1940s living history events.

Meg is on a mission: to see firsthand how the magic of Home Front living history is brought to life, so she can bring that same spirit home to Queensland.

Because on Sunday 16 August 2026, Wolston Farmhouse will be hosting our very own 🎖️ Home Front Festival — a family-friendly celebration of 1940s home front life, commemorating Victory in the Pacific Day right here in Wacol, Queensland.

And we need YOUR help to make it happen! 📣

The best of heritage came together for a wonderful evening at Brisbane's Tattersall's Club last night 🏛️ — a perfect finale to the Australian Heritage Festival as we celebrated the Queensland Heritage Awards 2026!

Thank you to our special guest and Patron of National Trust Queensland Governor of Queensland Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and the Honourable Andrew Powell, along with 160 guests in attendance.

Congratulations to all of this year's incredible winners, with Emma Scragg taking out the prestigious John Herbert Memorial Award for the project - Monto Open Doors presented by Her Excellency.

These awards recognise the architects, conservationists, councils, researchers, and community groups protecting Queensland's cultural identity.
