MORE THAN TEA AND SCONES
The CWA in Cuballing started in 1952 with approximately 21 members and over the years it has become an integral part of the Cuballing community. It has run garden parties, stalls and various other activities to generate funds to donate to local, national and international organizations. Through the branch it provides a woman’s voice on all aspects of life including lobbyin
g government. The CWA of WA has been instrumental in achieving:
Itemised phone calls, low alcohol beer;
Installation of white lines on roads;
‘use by’ date on all perishable goods;
All food stuffs labelled with country of origin, irrespective of whether it‘s packaged in Australia; and many, many more achievements over the years. On the lighter side we have enjoyed inter branch visits, excursions and other social events. We meet on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 9.30am for a pre meeting morning tea followed by the meeting which normally runs till 12 o’clock. The cost per member per year is $65.00. Over the years CWA Cuballing has been the perfect medium for creating strong friendships whilst contributing to the community. Unfortunately due to declining numbers, CWA Cuballing is struggling to maintain its presence in the community. It is important that we expand our membership and in particular with the younger generation of the local women with the opportunity, if they so choose, to start a younger group with new ideas and social activities. We welcome your support, should you have any questions please feel free to contact Helen on 9883 6052 or Jan on 0429074915. Or please attend our scheduled meeting. Your attendance would be appreciated and your children welcome.
