VERY IMPORTANT, Fellow WIRES members, If you care at all about the welfare of our beautiful and irreplaceable native wildlife and want to work towards a secure future for these animals, then you must make every effort to get online and vote “NO” this weekend. The group of disgraceful bottom feeding, dishonest, thieving, lying miscreants that are trying hard to disrupt and defame this amazing organisation and its staff are neither animal lovers or good people. Stand together with Protect WIRES and shut these corrupt and rotten people down for good.

This Saturday’s SGM is not about constitutions or admin. It’s about people. Its about animal welfare. Its about losing our best.

This is why you should choose NO.

A tiny minority calling themselves Reclaim WIRES want to throw out four of our most experienced, long-serving volunteers. People who have given their lives to wildlife. Decades of service, tens of thousands of rescues, mentors and friends to so many of us.

And they’ve already said what comes next:

- Sack the Welfare Team and lower welfare standards
- Sack staff they don’t like
- Sack the CEO
- Expel experienced long-term carers, including Protect WIRES members
- Replace them with activists and people who have harmed WIRES before.

This is not about progressing WIRES. It is about "hatred" and "revenge". Their own words.

If they succeed, it will mean the loss of expertise, the loss of standards, and the deaths of countless animals.

This is why you should choose NO.

Choose NO to all resolutions this Saturday. Stand up for decency, for carers, for the animals.

For as long as we remember there are stories about WIRES. Videos and conversations that are repeated regularly by activists, members and branch leaders alike, all about how horrible they were treated. Some of these have been on rotation for a very long time, some involve members who resigned, others are members that are still here. They have gone to enough effort to make videos and write about them for years.

They demand action. They demand to be heard. We agree with them. These issues should be investigated.

So rather than this all being done in whispers lets take action and give these the attention they need. So much is said about the "mountains of complaints", well, lets see the mountains publically.

We propose that a proper independent investigation by an appropriately qualified government authority be brought in to investigate these claims.

We also propose that as part of this;

- If they are claims about welfare, that individuals involved and WIRES agree to publicly release images, vet reports and files related to animals in care and care conditions.

- If they are claims about not being given equipment or supplies then the emails and data is also released.

- Claims about fraud, mismanagement etc. Lets bring them to light.

These would need to be reviewed by a qualified independent (or in welfare cases a vet) that NSW Government engages.

- Each video listed on the Reclaim WIRES website.

- The welfare claims made for Cathcart, Katoomba Possums and North Shore that have played out for years on social media.

- A selection of others that have made the headlines.

We would need written permission from the ex members to do this, but given how vocal they are on social media for so long this shouldn't be a problem. A proper review by an independent body, and a release of the case notes and images involved.

This is a serious process, we feel that in order to move forward we should reconcile with the past. Some of these cases have been the cornerstone of actions about WIRES.

Members and those involved deserve clarity on what has formed the basis of so much time, energy and resources spent by all of us.
