This is a communication just sent out by the Ballarat District Commissioner. It comes at a time when we here at Creswick are facing similar challenges and the future of our Cubs section is very uncertain. Please have a read and spread the word among friends and family that without volunteers we could very well be facing a similar situation as Alfredton.

Recently 1st Alfredton Scout Group youth parents were notified by Jason Wiseman, 1st Alfredton Group Leader, of the difficult news that, due to ongoing challenges in recruiting and retaining leaders and committee members, the 1st Alfredton leadership team has decided to transition towards closure over the next 16 months.
This is sad and disappointing news for many current and former members, families, and volunteers who have been part of the group's history. I would like to acknowledge Jason, the leaders, and the committee for their dedication and commitment to the group. This was not a decision made lightly.
As Jason has outlined, without sufficient leaders and committee members, it is becoming increasingly difficult to sustainably operate the group and continue delivering the Scouting program.
The approach was discussed with the local Ballarat Group Leaders to help ensure the transition is managed as thoughtfully as possible.
