The Creswick Cube

The Creswick Cube The CRWA got a PROV grant to undertake a history project, it's now installed at the Cube. 22 Nov 2023 This small square structure was built in the 1970's.

A plaque states: 'Erected by the Creswick Lions Club as a community project for the Creswick Promotion Council and financed by the Apex Club of Creswick, Businessmen's Association and Shire of Creswick'. It was used as an Info Centre for many years but has not been used of late. Essentially, the CUBE Project will breathe new life in to this unused community space and make it a valuable local information resource once again.

Had a good chat with the Shire Arborist today, he explained why the 2 large Oak Trees adjacent to The Creswick Cube have shed so so many acorns! It is called MASTING...Be careful if you walk there, the acorns are very slippery, like small stones on a gravel track! The Shire are going to do some Tree Health management work there very soon.

Thinking of dear friend John Lambert 1/2/1936 - 7/1/2024 today, the first Anzac Day he has not attended for 10 years. His Uncle, Henry was killed at Gallipoli, Turkey on 8/12/1915. This was mentioned this morning during the ceremony.

Trying to unravel the apparent loss of the Cube in web searches following name change weeks ago! I have now changed it back to The CC. {It was changed in keeping with the new front signage}. Hopefully it will be able to be found more easily now!!

The Cube Project was made possible by the generous contribution of Mr John McLeod Lambert, a man who was passionate about Creswick History. Sadly, he passed away on 7 January, aged 87 years. I was fortunate to spend time with him a few days earlier in Gandarra, chatting about history and listening to his stories, he was in good spirit at that time. RIP John McLeod Lambert 💔
