Our thoughts are with the Lawrence family during this difficult time
Mick approached me a year ago and generously offered his assistance to help with the Seastar project
I will remember him fondly for his kindness generosity and dedication to preserving our waters

Hey crew. Have misplaced an old school, green 40L dry bag with snorkelling gear in it. Must have somehow left it at Honeywood end before setting off on the dive. If anyone saw it etc pls let me know.

Cool opportunity to snorkel that stretch hey.

Cheers, Scott

No News is Good News
After our swim yesterday I’m pleased to report that there are very few Northern Pacific Seastar in Cremorne waters at the moment
I’m calling it mission accomplished
We’ve removed the threat of loosing biodiversity in our playground
From here forward we’re on a maintenance program
Thank you for everyone who has helped to achieve this outcome
I feel very grateful to be part of such a wonderful community
All the best, Adam

Howdy. Bbq will be firing at 3pm near the pontoon. Tas Oyster Company have contributed $$ towards the bbq so a good feed to be had.

Anticipating most peeps will be snorkelling the shallows. Catch bags on hand.

Looking forward to it.

Hi Folks , Looking forward to this Sunday meeting at Honeywood boat ramp 1:15pm for a safety brief and then commencing a tidal drift through the lagoon and out into the channel . Any areas we find good numbers of Seastar will be marked and then dived later in the day . Please be positively buoyant and under 16 accompanied by an adult

A friendly reminder 3rd December
Next Seastar cleanup

01/10/2023

After a successful cleanup earlier in the year of over 14,000 Northern Pacific Seastar it’s time to do it again.
We’re trying a new approach which will make this a family event.
Firstly we will jump in at Honeywood Drive an hour after high tide on Sunday 3rd of December at 1:30pm and with the support of Surfrider foundation Tasmania and the Tasmanian Oyster Co.
We will drift out with the tide on the surface whilst checking the bottom for Seastar, once spotted a support craft will drop a marker buoy which scuba divers can locate later in the day.
It is very important that everyone is positively buoyant and that everyone under the age of 16 has an accompanying adult with them.
A First Aid team will be present in case of an emergency and a head count and name registration before and after is mandatory.
Mast will be notified and all precautions will be taken to navigate boat traffic, this is an opportunity for kayaks to assist in marking swimmers positions to oncoming boats.
There is still an opportunity for people unable to enter the water to help out counting and weighing Seastar later in the day.
There will be a BBQ and soup available on finishing as well as the opportunity to assist Scuba Divers land Seastar.
We are making a positive impact on the biodiversity of Cremorne waters and welcome any volunteers who would like to help
Looking forward to seeing you
