The Cranbourne Food Truck

The Cranbourne Food Truck Three nights a week our dedicated team of volunteers serve up delicious and nutritious hot meals, cooked by the community, for the community to enjoy.

Our dinners are an opportunity for us to meet the community where they are and for connections to be made: to chat, share stories and when we can, link individuals to appropriate support services. We team up with larger initiatives like Foodbank and Share The Dignity along with local donations from schools, community groups, local organizations and individuals to provide access to fresh fruit, veg

etables and non-perishable food and personal care items. Meet us @ 27 Childers St Cranbourne Mon & Wed 6.30pm-8.00pm;
Saturdays @ 41 Lesdon Ave Cranbourne at 6.30pm-8.00pm. Food donations can be dropped off at Cranbourne Uniting Church 41 Lesdon Ave Cranbourne.

It was a wet miserable night but we still had just over 30 people.
Seven of them were first timers. Two couples and three individuals.
All said they were glad they had found us and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Another special night tonight and the week overall.
Our busiest Saturday, 43 people, 30 food parcels.
Two clients came through from the city because they said they enjoy the atmosphere and how we run it. They use it as an outing.
Huge thank you to Robyn for her Mushroom Soup. Big hit.
Four different people told me tonight we have turned their lives around both with food but more importantly the social atmosphere and helps them switch off.
If you want to be part of this call me and have a chat either in volunteering or sponsorship.

Apologies for not posting a lot lately, things have been very busy.
Something very heartwarming happened last night at the Food Truck.
One of our senior clients came up after he had eaten and gave me $15 for the Food Truck. He took me to the side so others didn't see.
One of his friends had given it to him after a win. He wanted to help support the Food Truck because it helps so many people and makes such a difference.
Several clients have reminded us over the last two weeks that what we do is much more than food. Several told us they feel now have a social life based on what we offer Monday to Thursday during the day and three nights a week, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

I want to share a story of what happened tonight which shows the character of our volunteers.
One of them offered to do the bus shuttle for me tonight and I said it will need petrol and I went to give him my card. Then I realised I had left my wallet at home. I said to put $50 in and give me the receipt.
They said no worries.
When they got back they had FILLED the bus and wouldn't give me the receipt, they wanted to cover it.
That is the caliber of our volunteers.
They just want to make a difference.........and they do!

The sense of community continues to grow.
With the clients permission I want to pass on her feedback she gave me last night.
Her doctor is very happy she has put on some much needed weight but more importantly he complimented her on her improved mental health and more positive outlook on life.
She told him it is due to the Food Truck and the sense of community and support.
Food is important but even more important is people's well being and sense of belonging.
The daily drop in sessions continue to be well attend as are the evening meal sessions.
One client has donated hand made jewellery and soaps she makes with a focus on Mother's Day. All proceeds to the Food Truck. Over $75 so far.
Be part of making a difference in people's lives.
