There were a few people that wanted to argue that Cowra Railway Station is open to the public.

This is not the case. Neither the carpark or the platform are public places. Particularly at Cowra. It is all leased by a volunteer organisation. It is in the contract.

It is a cying shame that people think they know more than the lessee of the Station.

I will delete any negative comments instantly.

Below is the official TfNSW information on Railay Stations

Unused NSW railway station platforms are generally not open to the public. While some platforms, like those at Central Station, have been repurposed for other uses like communications rooms or have been opened for special events like Sydney Open, they are not typically accessible for general public use. Access to these areas is usually restricted due to safety and security reasons.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Restricted Access:
Unused platforms are often not maintained for public access and may pose safety hazards due to their condition or lack of proper amenities.
Repurposing:
Some platforms have been repurposed for other uses, such as the platforms at Central Station which are now used for communications and power rooms to support the Sydney Metro.
Special Events:
Certain platforms, like the ghost platforms at Central Station, are sometimes opened to the public during events like Sydney Open, but this is a temporary and controlled access.
Tourism Potential:
There is a growing recognition of the tourism potential of these spaces, with some suggesting they could be transformed into bars, restaurants, or other attractions. However, this would require significant investment and modifications to ensure public safety and access.
Example: Central Station:
Central Station's platforms 26 and 27, which were built for the Eastern Suburbs Railway but never completed, are a prime example. They have been used for communications and power rooms, and were opened for tours during Sydney Open.

Couple of tours through the station for tourists.

Train rides pretty popular.

Strange how Cowra Shire Council does NOT consider the station as a Tourist attraction.

Plenty of tourist's today.

New windows, certainly improved the look.

Missing of course are all the volunteers that run tourist trains from the Cowra Railway Station. (LVR). Missing are all the Volunteers from the CAVC. Who maintain the Railway Station. Plus Missing are all the volunteers who do shifts at Cowra Driver every long weekend, special events such a Bathurst Motor racing week. (CWA, SALVATION ARMY, SES, UNITING CHURCH, RSL SUB BRANCH, LIONS CLUB, CAVC, KOORAWATHA FIRE BRIGADE plus other private people who volunteer their time. It is a pity that the Council does not see fit to invite any of these groups. Or recognise their value to the community.

Working bee today, just two things in mind to fix today, carpet cleaning and cameras.
1. Surveillance Camera had moved and clean spiders webs of two camera lenses.
2. Clean grease footprints off waiting room floor.
3. Clean Coffee spill off ticket office.
4. I was requested to count the door frames that need fixing from UGL. (white ants)

Only two workers, the normal other regulars are all away at moment.

John vacuumed the floor and we noticed the carpet badly scuffed in one corner. To prevent any further damage we will have ask for the person who uses that spot to move outside and ban food from the waiting room.

Almost time for a paint in most of the rooms.

A second white ant inspection this morning agrees totally with the first inspection a week ago.

There is a lot of white ant damage and it's been left too long.

Ironically today's inspector was from the same company that eradicated the white ants a good few years ago.
Apparently the job was botched and not done properly, not done according to the required specifications. This has allowed the white ants to continue.
Under new management and owners, I have been promised they will fix the trip hazards caused by the traps and do the job properly.

I hope UGL will repair/replace the damaged timbers.
As the pest controller stated "shame to see in such a state, a beautiful historic building. When if done properly in the first place these repairs would be unnecessary."

UGL has been hindered by Red Tape and the process of getting the relevant licences has taken longer than expected. UGL can now do all their maintenance. Previously done by another Company since the changeover from John Holland.

I had a very long conversation with a lovely lady called Ashley from UGL maintenance. The repairs to the platform are pipelined too be fixed as per original, not a patch up job.
