Great old story lost dentures found in Thirlmere Lakes!

ONE SUMMER day about 30 years ago, a German tourist went boating on Lake Nerrigorang, part of the Thirlmere Lakes system in what is now part of the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, south-west of Sydney.

Team Quoll has visited Thirlmere Lakes NP previously and investigated for the presence of quoll.

Update on Thirlmere Lakes National Park roads upgrade works ftom National Parks NSW

I’d like to provide you with an update on the roadwork in the Thirlmere Lakes National Park.
As you are aware, we are conducting this work to enhance and improve the road network to support accessibility for visitors and emergency vehicles, reduce the impacts of future storm events and ensure the road network complies with new fire trail standards and current NPWS design and safety standards.
Our team has been working diligently to ensure the work is delivered efficiently and with minimal disruption. The upgrade works commenced in August 2025 and have progressed to date with NPWS completing Stages 1, 2 & 3 (these being site establishment, vegetation management and drainage works). Work is progressing on Stage 4 (road surface preparation work) & Stage 5 (car parks formation). Stage 5 should be finalised by Christmas.
The project is on track for completion by early March 2026. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this period.
While we strive to minimize inconvenience, the temporary closure of Thirlmere Lakes National Park has been extended over the Christmas and New Year period to progress delayed works caused by the wet weather in late September 2025. Thank you for your understanding as we work to deliver these improvements.
The works continue to affect the following:
Park: Thirlmere Lakes National Park
Construction Period: Week of the 12 August 2025 to 31 March 2026 Affected & Closed Assets:
• Slade’s Road.
• Lake Couridjah Picnic Area.
• Werri Berri Picnic Area.
• Thirlmere Lakes Walking Track.
• Dry Lakes Road & Entry to Thirlmere Lakes Walking Track.
Alternative Access: Restricted Access by Authorised Vehicles only via Pumphouse Road.
