Background: G-RAP evolved in November 2015 from GASON (Geelong Anglican Social Outreach Network), which ran from 2001 and had its genesis in the diocesan “Parish Community Care” network, which operated in the Melbourne Diocese in the mid-1980s. Purpose:
- To assist refugees and asylum seekers, specifically in the area of greater Geelong
- To provide an Anglican network of communication and support
for the social justice and welfare of refugees and asylum seekers
Current Ministries for Refugees and Asylum Seekers:
Venue: St Andrew’s Anglican Church, 104 Bacchus Marsh Road, Corio.
1) Material Aid Distribution - G-RAP provides material aid to asylum seekers and refugees by way of a monthly distribution. Time: 9-10.30am - first Saturday of the month (except January)
2) Gathering Place – Refugee women and preschool children welcome to drop in for a time of companionship, information and light refreshments.
