G'day all.

Hope you have a nice relaxing Easter long weekend break coming up.

As always the Coongulla Paddy's Market is being held on Easter Saturday at the Coongulla community hall.
Lots of stalls with stuff old & new that you didn't realise you wanted until you see it 😁
I think it runs from 9am till 1pm ish, head to the hall, grab a coffee ☕️, a feed 🍔 & browse the goods on offer.
While you're there check out the load of wood the Coongulla Brigade has cut for the raffle this year, I reken it the best one yet, mixed species but there's a lot of red & pink wood in there!
I'm definitely buying some tickets, I want it & my wood shed needs it! 😊
However if I do win it whilst dealing with the chorus of 'rigged' it will be donated to someone doing it tough who really needs it 👍

Unfortunately I have to work & won't be there on the day but drop in & have a yak to the crew on your way in or out & enjoy what is always a great relaxed morning.

Also be aware that fire restrictions will be lifted at 1am on Tuesday 7th April.
If you have some burns you would like to do or a pile to burn your a little worried about give me a yell & we can probably help get them done with a bit of added security 🚒

Hope you have an awesome long weekend & have a can or two for me 🍻

Cheers
Buck

G'day all.
We are about to light a fuel reduction/ecology burn between Sandy Point road & Tinamba Glenmaggie road.
Smoke may impact the road & traffic controllers will be in place.
Please utilise caution if passing by.

Cheers

G'day all.

Hopefully you got through the warm day unscathed & are currently rehydrating 🍻

Currently there are no going fires in our area & the cool change should come through at 8 or 9 o'clock tonight, hopefully with a bit of rain.

There is a large fire in through Tallarook area producing a fair amount of smoke.
I believe the Westerly change is about to reach that fire which will, change it's direction, flare it up a bit initially & will probably start pushing some of the smoke our way.
Don't be surprised if you start smelling smoke when the change arrives.

Cheers
Buck

FYI - Tomorrow 17/02/2026 has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban for Wimmera, South West, North Central, Central (includes Melbourne and Geelong) and West and South Gippsland between 00:01 to 23:59.

10/02/2026

G'day all,

As you're aware today is a day of total fire ban in our area, with a fire danger rating of Extreme. In short any fire that starts will grow quickly & be hard to contain.
The good news is that the Black Cockatoos are hanging around Coongulla so we shouldn't see to harsh of a day.

It's a bit of a slow start with the foggy overcast bit as the North Westerly wind picks up the cloud will burn off quickly & it will get up into the mid 30's reasonably quickly with a potential change late this afternoon & maybe some rain & storms.

Whilst we were lucky to get 15-20 mm from the storm on Sunday arvo this didn't push very far into the hills at all so there's still an underlying dryness.
Added to the dryness are the lightning strikes from Sunday, some may still be laying low in logs & trees waiting for the NW wind to give then a bit of incentive to develop.

Keep an eye out for any potential smokers today & remember not to have any fires or heat sources that may cause sparks in the open air.
You can use a gas BBQ with the usual rules,
3 meters clear in all directions a minimum of 10 litres of water available & supervised by an adult at all times.

Cheers
Buck

G'day all,

There is a possibility that the Fireboss aircraft may start using the lake shortly to pick up water.
By all means watch, admire & take pics but please remain well clear of their path & allow them to go about their business unhindered.

Cheers

G'day all,
I hope you had an awesome Australia day, perfect weather for it 🌞 🍻
Before I get to today's fire weather I forgot to say a shout out to Dan & Chloe for organising the boat rally on Saturday 👍
A massive amount of effort is required to bring it all together on the day, well done on a great day 👏

As your aware today has been declared a day of total fire ban.
You know the drill, no soild fuel fires can be lit in the outdoors, don't use any tooling or machinery that can cause a spark.

Today is forecast to be similar to Saturday with light variable & winds reach mid 30's in our area & get warmer as you move inland away from the coast.

If anything pops up we will endeavour to keep you informed but as always keep an eye on Vic Emergency for any potential starts.

Cheers
Buck

G'day all,

It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the lake yesterday for the boat rally 😊

All the smoke hanging around today is blowing over from the Carlisle River fire in the Otways, unfortunately there was an escape from the fire that has been burning there for the last week or so. My thoughts & wishes go out to the crews trying to contain that blaze.

We are still under a primarily Easterly influence in our area so the further you are from the coast the warmer it gets.
Yesterday was a good example as East Sale airport only reached a high of 25 degrees while it was 35 odd in Coongulla.

Whilst today is forecast to be cooler than yesterday the BOM only officially do a forecast for Sale & as I mentioned the Eastery flow makes it warmer here.
As a rough guide it's worh having a look at the Latrobe Valley forecast as its a bit more representative of our area above the irrigation than the Sale one even though it's a little further away.

I'd expect Australia day to be similar to today and Tuesday to be another Total fire ban day with temperatures in the high 30's, that warmth should carry overnight & into Wednesday with temperatures again around 30 odd.

Keep in mind that until we get some rain the country is continuing to dry out, to put it in simple terms the bush & grasslands are dryer today than they were yesterday & will be drier again tomorrow.

I'll try to keep you informed as the forecast evolves in the coming days but at this stage I'd plan on Tuesday being a TFB.

Hope you all have an awesome Australia day 🇦🇺
Cheers
