To have Rural Womenโ€™s Circles at Coonalpyn Hub recognised as Community Project of the Year 2026 feels deeply humbling. Even more than that, it feels like a moment that belongs to many Women, not just us.

A heartfelt THANK YOU! to Claudia from Waffles and Jaffles who nominated us for this award. Your support and belief in this work made the difference!

Then, we want to acknowledge our husbands and our mother-in-laws. You have quietly held the home front so we could show up for other women, and that matters more than you know ๐Ÿฉท

Our hearts were so full seeing women in the room who have attended many, many circles over the past year. This recognition is yours too; you have helped shape conversations that stay with the other women long after the chairs are packed away ๐ŸŒฟ

And perhaps the part that means the most.
We shared on the day that this project has always carried a gentle but powerful message:

That women deserve to intentionally make time for themselves.
Time to create, time to explore curiosity, time to grow, time to reconnect with who they are beyond the many roles they carry!

Weโ€™re incredibly proud (and honestly a little emotional) to share that our Rural Womenโ€™s Circles has been named ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐˜๐ž๐š๐ซ as part of ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” ๐‚๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ณ๐ž๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐˜๐ž๐š๐ซ ๐€๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐๐ฌ ๐Ÿค

While our names might be attached to the program, this award belongs to every woman who has been part of the circle; those who showed up, shared honestly, listened deeply, inspired others, created, reflected, and supported one another.

When we look at this map, we donโ€™t just see locations.
We see women.

Each pin holds a whole world inside it.

Her home.
Her land.
Her animals.
Her family.
Her long days and early mornings.
Her quiet hopes and her unspoken worries.
Her season of life, whatever shape it is taking right now.

Some of these women drove ten minutes.
Some drove more than an hour.
Some came after feeding stock.
Some after putting babies to bed.
Some after a hard day on the farm.
Some after a hard day inside their own mind.

And still, she came.

What moves us most is not the distance on the map, but the distance each woman travelled within herself to walk through the door.
The decision to show up.
To sit in a circle.
To be seen.
To breathe.
To soften.
To connect.
To remember who she is underneath everything she carries.

Every pin is a story of courage.
Every pin is a woman choosing herself.
Every pin is a reminder that this land is full of women who care deeply about their inner world, their wellbeing, their community, and each other.

And that is something truly beautiful to witness.

๐Ÿค  WANTED: ๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ๐ข๐œ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”

This yearโ€™s program was shaped from what we thought would be exciting, helpful and meaningful to dive into. In a way, it was ๐š ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ž ๐›๐ข๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐š ๐ ๐š๐ฆ๐›๐ฅ๐žโ€ฆ choosing topics we hoped rural women would connect with, without yet knowing who would walk through the door or what they would need most ๐ŸŽฒโœจ

And look how it turned out.
Seventy-six women joined us across the year.
Stories were shared, perspectives shifted, friendships formed, confidence grew ๐Ÿ’›
Our little gamble paid off.

But for 2026 we have something ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ง ๐›๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ.
We now have the voices of the women who came, the conversations throughout the year, and all these beautiful post it notes filled with ideas, needs and hopes. A full picture of what this community is curious about, craving and ready to explore next ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Next yearโ€™s program will be built from ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ž๐๐›๐š๐œ๐ค, ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ž๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ข๐๐ž๐š๐ฌ.
And that feels like a very strong place to begin from.

Every month we share a little shelf of books that match the theme of our Rural Womenโ€™s Circle. For November we chose stories and ideas that spark reflection, courage and steady growth.

These books gently remind us that
small changes matter,
honesty with ourselves matters,
and noticing the good right in front of us matters too.

Some titles explore habits and mindset (Atomic Habits), some dive into self reflection (The Question Book is brilliant for this), and others bring us back to joy, courage and the simple moments that make a year meaningful.

If any of these catch your eye, they are all available through our local library network. Borrow them, buy them... books have a funny way of giving us exactly what we need at the right moment.

We had a ๐Ÿ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž. Everyone feeling at home, ready to relax and fill their cup.
Fresh spring flowers in the centre, an extra little table with the end of year gifts in the corner, and more candles than usual created a beautiful atmosphere ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐ŸŒธ

We opened the night with a longer meditation that walked us through each month of 2025. It helped us drop into our memories before the creative part of the workshop began. Because letโ€™s be honest, remembering what happened four months ago is hard enough, let alone what we did yesterday haha.

Our first activity was to ๐œ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐š ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ž of our year using five photos or moments each woman had brought along. Once everyone started, their personalities came through so clearly. Some sketched, some used thought clouds, some used symbols, others created layered collages. With gentle prompting questions, the memories and reflections began to flow.

After a few stretches we shared yummy herbal teas, Dutch hot choccy, and the freshest, most wholesome, nourishing treats โ˜•๐Ÿซ
Then it was time for what everyone was quietly excited about.

๐“๐ก๐ž ๐ ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ญ๐ฌ! ๐ŸŽ

We gifted each woman ๐š ๐ฉ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ญ ๐›๐ฒ ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ค๐ข๐ญ to keep the creativity going at home. A few peaceful hours here, and the rest waiting for them whenever life allows. Their reaction was gold. We all turned into girls for a moment, laughing as a few shared they had always wanted one but never invested in themselves that way.

We also had a big vision chat with ๐“๐š๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐“๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ž๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐‚๐จ๐จ๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐  ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐œ๐ข๐ฅ about the next Community Vision Plan. What made it extra special was how they joined in as if they had been to many circles before. It was so lovely to see. This is their community as well, and it felt good to share our hopes and ideas with people who genuinely care about the wellbeing of our district.

Now that the Council has experienced our program and shared such encouraging feedback, we feel ๐ž๐ฑ๐œ๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”. We will keep everyone updated on socials and through our mailing list. If you would like to join, flick an email to [email protected]

And something else that matters to us.
A quiet intention this year was to gently drain out gossip culture and replace it with honesty, courage and real support. We can feel a shift.
Women choosing to speak ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก each other instead of ๐š๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ each other.
Stories shared that changed perspectives, softened assumptions and lowered social anxiety.
It has been powerful to witness โœจ

As we prepare for our final Womenโ€™s Circle of the year on Friday, November 7th, weโ€™re feeling so grateful for the response to the program that we've created for this year. Because, really, we didn't know how loved our events would become and how the reflective topics were going to be embraced.

๐ŸŒธ Why We Hope to Return in 2026

When we think about bringing the Womenโ€™s Circles back in 2026, we donโ€™t have to look far for reasons why. These heartfelt words from the women who joined us this year say it all ๐Ÿ’Œ

โ€œThese circles light me up and help me stay grounded.โ€
โ€œItโ€™s been the only thing Iโ€™ve done for me all year.โ€
โ€œItโ€™s a safe, supported space where I can just be myself.โ€
โ€œI take a better version of me home to my family.โ€
โ€œIt combats isolation and builds real connection.โ€

What started as a small idea has become something women now truly need, a place to belong, reflect and breathe. ๐ŸŒท

Your feedback reminds us that this isnโ€™t just a series of workshops. Itโ€™s a lifeline, a community and a reminder that weโ€™re not alone.

As we look ahead to 2026, weโ€™re exploring ways to make it possible. Weโ€™re working out whether thereโ€™s a potential grant that fits our initiative, or if another model might work, perhaps one that runs on a donation basis to keep the circles accessible and sustainable. ๐ŸŒฟ

The ๐‚๐จ๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ๐ฉ๐ฒ๐ง ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐‡๐ฎ๐› is a not-for-profit organisation powered by volunteers who pour their time, energy and love into creating a thriving space where the community can learn, connect and grow. From the library to the community garden, from local programs to big-picture projects, the Hub is a home base for ideas that nurture our region. ๐ŸŒฟ
