Breakthru Adventures – Sculptures in the Scrub!

What a fantastic day out! Today the Breakthru crew headed to the beautiful Dandry Gorge – Sculptures in the Scrub, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather.

The Pilliga Scrub looked an absolute picture, with the vibrant colours of the bush, wildflowers, wattles (sorry about the hayfever Bill!) and trees providing the perfect backdrop for a day filled with plenty of smiles, laughs and adventure.

Crystal was on the hunt for the elusive Pilliga Yowie and was pretty convinced she may have found some tracks! We’re not sure the mystery has been solved just yet…

Michael, Shelly, Crystal and Dave enjoyed a leisurely walk around the picnic and camping areas, taking in the beautiful surroundings. Dave particularly enjoyed having plenty of space to soak up the great outdoors and do a few laps!

Meanwhile, Bill, Nathan, Ali, Taz, Aden, Morgan and Will took on the full gorge walk! They had a great time exploring the track, checking out the amazing sculptures along the way and embracing the challenge of a longer walk. A fantastic achievement by the crew!

After all that exploring, everyone had certainly earned lunch. A big thank you to Doug for cooking up a delicious BBQ (Krystie's Quality Meats the Sausages were on point 😋) and to Cody, April and Kirstie for supporting the crew out on the walk.

Days like today are what community participation is all about —
getting outdoors, trying something different, challenging ourselves, sharing experiences and, most importantly, having fun together.

Thanks to all of the crew for a great day, enjoyed by all!

They spent the day exploring the grounds, checking out all the awesome things AgQuip had to offer, and soaking up the atmosphere. There was plenty to see, plenty to do and, of course, plenty of fun along the way! 😄

Last Friday, our clients headed off on a spontaneous trip to Dubbo for a game of ten-pin bowling! 🎳 They had an absolute “ball” of a time — quite literally! 😂 There were plenty of laughs, some friendly competition and lots of fun along the way. 🏆 The winner for the day was… Taz! 🎉 Congratulations, Taz! After working up an appetite, everyone finished off the day with one of their all-time favourites… KFC! 🍗🍟 A spontaneous day out, lots of laughs, a bowling champion and full bellies — what more could you ask for? 😄

💡ALWAYS ask for a DRAFT report from your therapists before YOU send it to the NDIS.
➡ Providers sometimes send reports straight to the NDIS.

💬 But, you have the right to ask for a copy of anything written about you.

📧 Ask your provider to send you a draft copy when they have finished it.

👀 Check the details – does it describe you and your situation correctly? Does it say what you actually need?

✏ You can ask your provider to fix any mistakes or make changes.

✅ Then you can give the NDIS the final and correct version.

💻 To hear why this is so important, and get more tips and tricks to help you with your plan review process, you can come along to our live ‘Plan Reassessments and Reports’ peer workshop session on Thursday 9 July as part of our Resource Kit.

📂 It comes with the slides, the peer session recording, auto transcription and more practical tips and resources you can use.

🔗 For more info and to book, visit our website’s Kits & Workshops page (check our comments at 9am for the link).

Last Thursday, our Men's Group enjoyed a wonderful outing to the Gunnedah Rural Museum. The group enjoyed stepping back in time and exploring displays from an era when life was a little simpler.

Anthony particularly enjoyed the visit, with a keen interest in the collection of motor vehicles and learning about who drove what throughout the years, both before and during his lifetime.

It was a lovely, relaxing day out, filled with interesting conversations, shared memories, and plenty of laughs. Most importantly, everyone enjoyed each other's company and the opportunity to spend time together.

Today, the Friday crew set off to Dubbo for an unforgettable outing to watch the Michael Jackson movie! Anyone who knows Shelly knows she’s a huge MJ fan, so saying she was excited would be an understatement! The pure joy and enthusiasm radiating from everyone (especially Shelly) made the day even more special.

To top it all off, we treated ourselves to some mouthwatering burgers and meals from the Burger Club Lounge. What a fantastic day filled with music, laughter, and delicious food! 🕺🍔✨️

Breakthru hosted our Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday, and what a lovely morning it was! ☕💛

With a room full of people enjoying delicious morning tea and great company, it was a wonderful way to come together and raise funds for such an extremely worthy cause.

It was lovely to see our clients, families, community members, and our special guests — students and teachers from Coona High — all enjoying the morning together.

A huge thank you to our wonderful staff member Kirstie for organising the event, along with her offsiders April and Sam, who baked up a storm to help make the morning so special.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea!

🎉☕ Join Us for Breakthru’s Biggest Morning Tea! ☕🎉
Next Thursday, the 21st of May, Breakthru will be hosting our Biggest Morning Tea to help raise funds for the Cancer Council.
Sadly, approximately 1 in 5 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, meaning most of us have either been personally affected or know someone who has. That’s why this event holds such a special place in our hearts.
💛 Entry is just $5.00 per person, payable in cash at the door. Your entry fee includes free food and drinks for the morning, as well as entry into our lucky door prize draw!
Come along for a beautiful morning filled with:
✨ Great vibes
🧁 Delicious sweets and treats
☕ Tea, coffee & good company
🎁 PLUS — we’ve been lucky enough to receive not one, but TWO gift vouchers to give away as lucky door prizes thanks to Krysties Quality Meats and The Coonabarabran Bakery!
Bring yourself, bring a friend, and enjoy a morning of connection, laughter, and community while supporting an amazing cause.
Breakthru families may have already received a note home a few weeks ago, but if you or any other family members would like to attend, please RSVP by Monday the 18th of May.
We can’t wait to see you there!
