Thursday 18th June, 2026
Here we are halfway through the year and winter has paid a cooler & wet visit. Although, attendance didn’t reflect the miserable day with over a dozen members gathered in the warm hall. Anyway, those attending were a merry bunch busy working away at their individual project of the day. Most were plying assorted needles or hooks as we seem to all turn towards making things with yarn to keep us or our lucky recipients warm. Have posted photos of busy hands and worktables below as usual. Until next week…….Stay warm!
Cheers dears! 🤗 MM

Thursday 11th June, 2026
We welcomed nice steady rains again overnight and they continued on.
This morning we also had a heavy fog. Seems winter is well and truly here and making itself felt. Anyway, Despite the cold and wet, 12 members turned up for the day. Members truly relished the warm welcome of a cosy hall and the cheerful chat that ensues.
‘Sock Day’ last Saturday at the hall was a great success with lots of warm items donated. Have included a photo taken of a few of our members enjoying the event, along with other ‘busy hands’ pics taken today. Until next week……stay warm & dry!
Cheers dears! 🤗. MM

Thursday 4th June 2026
Surprisingly, Seventeen members attended today despite the miserable weather. The rains were so very welcome but the days have been a bit bleak. Yes I know, it is winter! Really don’t need reminding that we are halfway through the year already. Despite all that, the room was warm and cosy and the group were cheerfully chatty. Nothing more to discuss really so I’ll just post the photos taken over the morning.
Don’t forget “Sock 🧦 Day” at the Anglican Church Hall on Saturday at 2.30pm for a bit of fun. Hope they have a good rollup and are swamped with lots of useful warm gifts 🧤🧶🧣for the Needy. Hope to see many of you there! Cheers dear! 🤗 MM.

Posting for Thursday 28th May 2026

Hooray! The rains ☔️ finally came but only 10 members ventured out to the hall. We had a short meeting and discussed the recent events of this busy month with the sad farewells for two of our long term members and of course our successful ‘open day and biggest morning tea’. Also discussed were two events coming up in spring. Firstly, we will conduct a “September Skills Month” again this year and in October perhaps hold several days of “WAACI at Space”
with our displays. The theme for that last event will be “Spring!” Will post more details as we get nearer to these events.
Meanwhile, next Saturday 6th June, is the Coonabarabran Anglican Church ladies annual “Sock Day!” Every year people bring along a collection of warm items like socks🧦scarves🧣beanies🧶mittens🧤gloves etc. or a cash💵 donation to be distributed to those most in need as winter settles in. A lovely afternoon tea 🫖☕️🍰🧁 takes place with a few word and trivia games thrown in.
It’s a fun way to spend a Saturday Afternoon for a good cause.
So, we look forward to a friendly catch-up and chat and hope that you too can join us. Until then…… Cheers dears! 🤗 MM

Life is made up of beginnings and endings……..
the first brings joy while the second brings sadness.
This Thursday, the WAACI people are feeling more than a little sad, because our dear friend Sonia Giles is leaving us to start a new chapter of her life. Sonia has been an active member of WAACI for over twenty years. During that time she has held the office of Secretary and has conducted herself with distinction in that role as well as all the many other activities required of a committee member. Sonia has endeared herself to members with her shy smile, hearty laugh and friendly disposition, always ready to give a helping hand, or assist in teaching a crafty skill. The Giles are relocating back to Sonia’s birthplace, the small town of Laura in mid-north country South Australia. There Sonia and Graeme are not only surrounded by familiar territory but lots of relatives as well. So this week 21 members bade our friend a fond farewell at the hall. The photos this week tell this story as well as the usual “busy fingers”. Until next week…….Cheers dears! 🤗 MM

The tale of the “BIGGEST MORNING TEA’!
Thursday 14th May, 2026…….

The day for our Biggest Morning Tea & WAACI Open Day dawned with the promise of a bright sunny day ahead. However, we ditched the alfresco seating plan as the morning was on the cool side. So we set up for an indoor event. Members continued to arrive bringing things for display, sale and catering. The hall looked very festive with the blue and gold “Biggest Morning Tea” bunting abounding, as well as tables and flowers in those colours too. Then the guests suddenly arrived and kept coming, and coming. Soon cups tinkled, plates filled with succulent goodies, and the happy chatter was deafening. Friends brought friends while others caught up. Thank you Coonabarabran for turning out for our little annual cancer council charity drive. We really appreciated your support. The end of day tally was just under $1000. This week we only have photos of the attendance. But do tune in again next week, to continue observing members at work and what they produce. We will probably post confirmation of the final total then as well. So….. Again, a big grateful thanks to all for participating on our special day. ~~~~
Cheers dears! 🤗 MM.

Thursday 7th May 2026…….
While the number attending this week was down to seventeen, it appears that we had known about a half dozen away for a wide variety of reasons. So, we are happy to report that even though it was a miserable ‘early taste of winter’ kind of day, we still had a great attendance. The fluctuation in the attendance numbers actually does depend on the weather sometimes.
We do so hope that next week the weather will improve somewhat for our “Biggest Morning Tea & WAACI Open Day” on the 14th. (If you scroll down you will find a notice giving the details for this coming event). Meanwhile, we continue to post photos of the things that we do. We do hope you enjoy seeing this weekly attention to our “WAACI HAPPENINGS”, and would greatly appreciate you indicating that you do as well. We also look forward to seeing many of the friends who follow us turning up to join in next week. Don’t forget to bring a friend (or two!). So, for now Cheers dears! 🤗 MM

PASTEL WORKSHOP report!

Last Tuesday 5th May, WAACI held another fabulous pastel workshop.
Renowned Narrabri artist Judy Nobilo was the tutor on this day too!
This all day session was also greatly enjoyed by mostly the same enthusiastic group. Again we are posting a few photos of the works in progress. Just hope the names of the artists correctly match these impressive results. 🤗 MM

PS: don’t forget to check in on this page for announcements of future workshops.
