I like many others was lost when I paid off. Although I knew something was not right with my general wellbeing, it wasn't until many years later, I was diagnosed with PTSD. Fortunately, I could talk about it and through my charity work with Tex & Bundy I got to talk at various functions on Mental Health, my life in the Service and my life on the road with my best mate, Bundy, a stumpy tailed Blue
Heeler. Bundy retired in 2017 after travelling over a million Kilometres on the front of a Motorcycle ( several motorcycles!) in that time she helped raise over six million dollars for various charities, she was my assistance dog and a therapy dog. I have always had an unbridled love for boats and the sea. Having seen first hand how sailing and/or being on the water had a calming effect on most people that suffer from PTSD & other mental related issues. An opportunity came up to aquire a sailing boat back in 2018, this vessel required a lot of work to make it suitable for what I had in mind. My partner (Lucy) & I put in 14 hour days for about 12 months to make the boat seaworthy enough to make the trip down from Gladstone to Coffs Harbour where work continued. We needed to slip Mystic so we could fit up a bow thruster along with new rigging etc etc. Then Covid hit and put our plans back 12 months. But now the Borders have opened up, we motor sailed Mystic up to the Gold Coast and she is now slipped at Gold Coast City Marine. On completion of this refit, we will do a Queensland launch of our Sailing for Veterans and E.M.S. before sailing back to Coffs Harbour and launching our program in NSW. We are now operational, subject to Weather conditions and Covid restrictions/Lockdowns. Please view this page for further updates or to contact us.
